Having dealt with the school (WUSTL) I don’t get all this “tactic” talk and “overly manufactured”…i mean what exactly is that? I think its an over-analyzed school. Yes they send out a lot of mail…so what. My D came into this wanting a great academic school to be 5-15k students. No LAC’s fit that bill but WUSTL does and is a great school. I got her to apply to Michigan and now she is in love with it despite the size being way bigger than she initially wanted

Now I’m getting it from both sides :)

I said it’s a superb school with extremely well-qualified students.

I have heard, including from some experts in the college counseling business, that WUSTL is very image and rankings conscious school and probably is strategic in managing the admit rate and yield. Have you heard differently?

Can i just ask why this michigan board has turned into a WUSTL board?

I don’t know any experts - just impressed with the school. It is as simple as that. It has a lot to offer. I truly don’t know about all this management. I do know that the waitlist is a silly concept. They seem to waitlist everyone and i agree that is strange and not right. My older D was WL three years ago and we learned she was one of an army…its a game and strange.

volleyball, probably because a ton of Michigan applicants mostly got waitlisted at WUSTL a couple of days ago and there appears to be quite a bit of application overlap. And a lot of anxiety waiting the Michigan and probably other decisions.

Sorry.

hey guys maybe create another thread for Michigan vs WUSTL. this thread is supposed to be for anxiety and hope not for factual statements and logical arguments.

hey guys I was wondering if there is an absolute deadline when the umich admins have to send out results?

Last year, in early April, Michigan sent out all of its acceptances, rejections and waitlists. Son was accepted April 5th.

There are thousands of waitlisted students, most of whom do not get off the list, as is typical for most college waitlists. However a few do. See the posting atop of Michigan’s discussion threads on this forum - one student resorted to a drastic and entertaining acceptance plea, which ultimately earned him an acceptance. Not recommending this, just saying.

Since link is no longer at top of page, here it is:

i don’t think we should base anything off of last year’s patterns lol.

I CERTAINLY don’t think it’d be a good move to replicate what that other waitlisted kid were to do (IF we are waitlisted ;_; ). It’ll have certainly lost its charm.

so…anyone have hope for this friday? :D

^I dunno. I’ve got a feeling I won’t be getting my decision until the last day.

In last years thread, people received decisions on Thursday the 15th. It’s totally possible we’ll hear something this week.

I have a terrible feeling that I will regret looking forward to WA having my decisions (and the fact that I’ve been checking every single day)

ughhh time moves so slowly. seems like its been 15-20 years since the last decisions were released…

I’m pretty sure I was single and childless back when my son applied. Reagan was president.

Villagemom, I actually logged on (on my phone) just to tell you how incredibly funny that ^^^ was. It almost makes the wait entertaining.

Now I’m logging off, stepping away from the Internet, and going back to my preferred strategy: avoidance. But thanks for the smile.

I’m delighted to be of help, MomofNEA! Now that the College of Cardinals did not elect my son as Pope, I’m really hoping that the College of Engineering comes through for him.

please let us all know the color of the smoke
