@ichoosehouse It’s pretty random. A few students applied in late Jan and got a decision by 10 Feb last year. You never know.

well, don’t give up on getting decisions this Friday Mid-late feb, guys!

Not sure what “normal” number of applications are, but they had over 50,000 this year. Admissions told me they accepted approximately half at early action/early decision and the rest as regular decision.

Half? ^!!!

the number of acceptances via EA/ED is getting higher and higher :(

Btw I tried doing a live chat with a UMich rep and they said that Mich has no confirmed release dates other than early April lol. This is getting more mysterious :)

Sounds to me like they don’t really consider themselves “rolling” so I’m guessing when you applied isn’t going to affect when you get notified… thinking they will accept their strongest applications first and go from there.

They may just not be allowed to say when releases will occur even it if will be at some point this week because it is not definite yet

That’s my hope. Michigan wasn’t one of my top choices when I applied but now it is, and it would be nice to hear soon.

Yeah, it would be really great to hear results soon. sighs.

The thing that kind of burns me is that my D rushed her app there a bit (and to the other “rolling admission” school) based on the four-to-six weeks talk. She didn’t apply anywhere early, and wanted to hear something from somebody before the end of March.

If we knew both of these colleges would now be saying, “Don’t worry, you’ll hear by April 1” just like all the rest of the schools on her list, she might have taken a bit more time–not only with those two supplements, but with the Common App itself.

Bah.

tougis, I have no idea why your D would have needed to “rush” her application to Michigan. Also the thought that she perhaps should have taken more time on her common app sounds like an excuse. Most young adults that apply to these very competitive schools prepare for months in advance of their deadlines. The common app essays are carefully considered for a significant time period before they hit the apply button. And Michigan’s deadlines for applying are clearly published (both for Early Action and Regular Decision). Michigan is not a “Rolling Admissions” school - which implys that you can apply almost anytime and get considered. What was required here was a bit more preparation.

It wasn’t really her essay(s) that needed more time, it was the EC listings on the Common App. In her rush to get “in line” she left a couple of things out.

It’s interesting that you say that Michigan is not a “Rolling Admission” school, because nearly every website lists it as one. Not sure who’s to blame for that, but I’m guessing the Ad Ofc. there could do something about that perception if they really wanted to.

Just spoke to admissions this afternoon. Admissions rep did confirm that there would be a batch of decisions posted mid-February and also mid-March. The rest in April… Hopeful that -mid- equals 14th/15th. Emails will be sent to students and the WA will be updated as well. Good luck everyone.

Someone I know said they got accepted today (regular decision).

@elunium did they find out via email or WA? and what time?

I don’t know. I spoke with them at school today but didn’t get into the details. He applied sometime during December. Hopefully the rest of us get our decisions soon.

It seems odd that someone would find out on a Wednesday

elunium, are you in Mich., or OOS? Thanks.

OOS in NY.

It WOULD be kind of odd for it to randomly happen in Wednesday… maybe they were applying to some other school from CoE/LSA?
