Anybody knows when will be the next wave of decisions coming out, is it February?
@AAA124555 The regular decision deadline is February 1st and the website said that we will here back by “early April” so most likely sometime in March
Sorry I’m new here. What is a LOCI?
@cdr2001 thank you so much, new in this process so trying to gather all the information.
Three applicants from our elite private hs - each with perfect 36 ACTs and crazy GPAs and all the trimmings::. all deferred. I’m sure Michigan knows what they are doing, but I wonder if they worry about sharp kids getting discouraged/ turned off by deferrals and kind of emotionally writing it off and gravitating toward schools that are sending lots of love,
But then again they don’t seem to be facing a shortage of great applicants!
Is it at all possible they would send out decisions earlier? I got deferred and was kind of expecting it but I am still so upset. I know I shouldn’t be but ahhh. Does anyone know any more info about nursing school admissions??
U Mich is my dream school. I’m OOS from VA. 1490 SAT w/ a 4.3 GPA, extensive extracurriculars, internships and the best essays I wrote for any school. Applied for preferred admission to Ross. Does Ross become more difficult to get admitted to if you’re deferred from LSA? I’m stressed about that. Does U Mich take visiting the school into account at all??
In the deferral letter they only seem to ask for updated grades from mid February, they also mention that everything else sent so far will be all they need to make a final decision and that they don’t want extra stuff sent to them. Doesn’t this imply that you shouldn’t send a LOCI?
Hey guys! I am a current umich student who got deferred last year as well. Do not lose hope! RD decisions will come out in multiple waves. Last year, the first wave was actually right after the February 1 deadline, and I believe these decisions were for mostly deferred applicants and mostly acceptances. It came out on February 2nd. Then there was another wave in March, and waves in April as well. I believe this year, the first wave should be early to mid-February. I also believe that with each wave, there are more rejects and waitlists. By April, majority should be rejection and waitlist letters.
Thank you for your insight into the process haost23. My Kid also got deferred his application is strong. This insight is very helpful of you and thanks for spending time on this forum it does help a lot. Best Regards
@haost23 Thank you for the information we all appreaciate it! Did you send a LOCI, if you did do you think it helped?
@WizKid123 I assume it means Letter of Continued Interest.
@ everyone who was deferred, I’d like to say that while you may well get in RD, don’t be disheartened by the deferral even if Michigan is your top choice. I applied SCEA to Yale, my top choice, got differed, and then just 4 days later was accepted to Michigan, which I’m now realizing I’m just as happy to attend. The point is, Michigan could be for some of you what Yale is for me. I still have hope in the RD round for Yale, but now I’m feeling the same affinity for Michigan. You’ll most likely soon find that several other great schools want you, and it’ll make this deferral sting a lot less, believe me. In any case, all the very best for the RD round, at Michigan and at other schools too.
@kjdoc19 I actually did send in a LOCI around a week before February 2nd, when the first wave came out. The interesting part is that I never got a response from the AO. I didn’t really care though because when Feb. 2nd came around, I got in. I’m not exactly sure if the LOCI helped since I got no response. My theory of the no response is maybe the AO knew I was gonna get in so didn’t care to respond. That’s my theory though and it could be totally different from that.
Didn’t they say that the most successful applicants just send in what’s required? Like not LOCI?

Wats an LOCl?
I remember the whole LOCI conversation from last year. Should I? Shouldn’t I?
Here is my best advice: If you went on a job interview, would you send a follow-up “thank you & still interested in the job” email? If you are the type that would, then send a LOCI. If that is something you would never do, then skip it.
