University of Michigan Class of 2023 Early Action

hey, anyone know if kids applying into theater, who have auditions scheduled several weeks away, will be hearing anything at all when the EA decsions come out? Thanks.

Did anyone else not get a confirmation email with PIN number for the portal for Michigan after applying?

For anyone who didn’t receive their UM-ID for whatever reason: I realized mine had been sent to spam too late and t had already been auto deleted! I called undergrad admissions this morning and after a few minute wait time I got on the phone with someone who within minutes was able to pull up my file and give my my ID! If you are in this position just give them a call, no worries

Calling right now. Thank you @jdag11

Can confirm that it works.

Thank you everyone. Calling soon.

@mloparrino, it seems like a lot of people didn’t get it, which makes me think there’s something wrong with their system.

On my portal, it says my early action is “requested” - will I still receive a decision on Wednesday? I’m applying to Ross and submitted all application materials well in advance.

@lcnova3 Did you get an email saying your early admission application is complete?

Yes. My early action is qualified under my LSA application, but not my Ross. I think since I had to apply to both schools, I have two separate applications in the portal.

I have that same thing. I’m hoping it is only because we haven’t been admitted to Umich yet, so the Ross admissions can’t see the application yet. I guess we’ll have to see in a couple days.

If you apply to both Michigan and Ross my understanding is that you have to be accepted to Michigan in general first then your application once accepted to Michigan is reviewed.

Where do you guys see “Qualified”?

My son is a Ross applicant as well. His LSA application is listed as “Early Acton Qualified.” His Ross application is listed as “Early Action Requested.” All materials were submitted at the same time and well before 11/1. I can only assume that Ross is always listed a “Requested” unless/until the applicant is first admitted to LSA. But, I don’t know that for certain. If anyone has both listed as “Qualified,” that would indicate otherwise.

@altmusicman where do you see on the portal? Thanks!

@MTDad2020 You will not hear anything for quite awhile. My daughter applied to theatre as a BTA didn’t even have to audition and still had to wait until APRIL until all the auditions were done!! Sorry for the bad news!! But if they have an audition several weeks away what were you expecting to hear now?

Meant to ask where do you see “Requested” “Qualified” on the portal?

I found it! Under Application Data

@audie814 thanks for the response. Yeah, I guess I really wasn’t expecting to hear anything yet. Part of me has been hoping he might get admitted to UM generally, with admission to the BFA acting program pending the results of his audition. I’m a big UM fan, and would love for him to go even if dinged for the major. I’d look amazing in the dad blue and gold gear!

@UMTDad2020 no smtd is its own entity and has a totally different set of deadlines and dates. We were told my daughter would know by early action deadline since she wasn’t auditioning but clearly that person didn’t knkw what they were taking about we kept getting pushed off and pushed off and it was so frustrating. She was one of the last to find out. Good luck you your son—break a leg!
