University of Michigan Class of 2023 Early Action

Post #585 from @SingingBusDriver at 1:13 PM EST:

@UMParent2015 word on the street is 3:00 pm eastern time Wednesday 19th which is today for you but tomorrow for me… Lol…

I’m a freshman at Michigan and exactly a year ago I was in your position compulsively checking college confidential every 20 minutes for any updates. I know how grueling the wait is especially if it’s a school you want so badly. To give you some peace of mind, if possible, almost 80% of EA applicants last year were deferred due to such a high volume of applicants and I can’t imagine this year will be much different. I was one of those deferred, and yes my heart was broken and I was convinced my dream of attending Michigan was over. So please don’t stress and think all hope is lost if you’re deferred! Make sure to have a backup school that you can see yourself attending and excelling in and just know that in the end you’ll end up where you belong (I hate myself for saying that too but trust me it’s true). I would continue to write about how amazing Michigan is and it’s opportunities and how much I’ve grown already in the past 4 months and all the friendships I’ve developed, but I’m tired and my brain is fried from finals (yes, you have to work hard if you want to play hard). I wish all of you the best of luck and the brightest of futures! If you have any questions regarding any aspect of Michigan and my experiences, don’t hesitate to reach out  go glue baby

@nursing2022 Thanks for your thoughtful post. Means a lot to all the students and parents
awaiting decisions. No doubt you will be an excellent health care professional as you have the most important trait for that field and in fact any in life - empathy.

I was talking to one of my friends who had applied to Michigan last year. She is EXTREMELY smart and is now at Duke. However, she was deferred early action for Michigan. She got into Michigan in early February, after being deferred, but before the regular decision notification date. Not sure exactly what this means but I feel like Michigan defers a lot of students. I’m kind of going into tomorrow with the idea that I am getting deferred and I am fine with that despite it probably being my number one or two school. Fingers crossed that I get accepted and if not, deferred. Good luck to everyone who applied early action. We are all such good candidates and we can’t let a couple admissions officers define who we are or how our life will play out.

Does it help to be female applying to Ross?

@Kangyi19

Uh oh. Did you break it? :open_mouth:

I hope it’s fixed by 3pm EST today. :)>-

t-9 hours! cheers to everyone applying early, let’s hope we all get decisions we are happy with/can accept until RD time. truly doubt we’ll see any rejections from the students on this forum. nevertheless, get ready

@Kangyi19 @ushinghal19 Whenever I check before school, it is always down. I think it may not operate before 6am because I just checked and mine is working; however, I could be wrong.

OK mine is working again! @wmc656 @Kangyi19

@jec30 - In state tuition at UM is rather complicated and much more difficult to get than MSU and other schools. This web site spells out how to get it. It is not based on residency for the state of Michigan.

@Kangyi19 FYI: WA shuts down from 4am-6am ET nightly.

Does anyone know if SMTD will send out decisions for the BTA, which is a degree that you do NOT audition for? My daughter has Artistic Profiles for both BTA and BFA Directing. We know BFA Directing will wait for the interview.

I am so nervous

@TheatreMommainOH I hate to be the bearer of bad news but based on our extremely frustrating experience, my daughter who is a BTA major did not hear until APRIL. Hang in there!!

6 Hours!!!

does legacy status play a large part in getting accepted? Because I have that going for me but my sat scores are the only thing holding me back, I am in the range for GPA and I had very strong recommendations and essays and made it clear that u of m was my dream school my whole life
