OUS applicant but love Blue! Good luck all
Have good grades and scores but i am sure most applicants do. What does admissions office look for OUS? and what program are you in?
I got a confirmation email but it said my material was received on Nov 2/Nov 4 and “Early Action - Requested” . I applied on the 31st. Would I still be considered for EA?
^ same as above. I just got my confirmation email today (11/04) and even though my school sent in all the required material on 11/01 it says they received the material 11/04.
My application was received 11/01 though
You both may want to contact your counselor. Based on what my sons counselor said, the answer would be NO. This is verbatim from his counselor…
Yes, the application and all materials including the school report, recommendations, essays, test scores, etc need to be completed by the deadline of November 1 if you would like to be considered for Early Action.
I’m applying to Michigan EA and it’s my first choice school. I’m from out of state and am wondering how Michigan typically composes their freshman class of out-of-state vs. in-state students. Does anyone have any idea? I have a 3.84 GPA/4.0 and an SAT of 1510.
My kid got his portal 10-28 after submitting the common app on 10-24 .
He is applying to SMDT/LSA from OOS. ACT 34/GPA 4.0. Hoping to get invited to music auditions.
I applied 10/30 to both Michigan (first choice) and Virginia but my Michigan application also says they received required materials on November 2-3 but Virginia received everything on 10/30. I used common app for both so I think it’s just Michigan taking a longer time to process everyone’s application, which I hope wouldn’t affect my EA status.
On collegebaord, it states that my AP scores have been processed, but on Wolverine Access >> Application status, it states that there are only 2 ap results that have been received from (2017, and 2018). Does this mean that all my scores from 2017 and 2018 were received by U-M or does it mean that one 2 of my AP scores were received?
P.S. I took one in 2017 and 3 in 2018.
Do the HAIL interviews help at all with admissions? Or is it more a marketing thing they do to just to make the student want to go to UMich?
University of Michigan is my top school, but I don’t think I’ll get in. I only have a 29 ACT and am applying for engineering.
@qv19sandersa hey girl found u!
For anyone worried about received dates of materials on the portal, I found this on last years EA thread.
https://umich.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/1810/kw/early%20action
Sounds like the received dates can be after Nov. 1. People also said “Early Action Qualified” was added to their portal and they were sent emails that they were early action qualified on different days in November depending on when they turned in their application.
Applied on Oct 25, got email from Michigan on Oct 31 saying application is complete, will be reviewed for EA and that decision will be released by Dec 24.
No email with invite to login to the application portal yet. Does it typically take a few weeks for them to send the invite to create a login to the application portal ?
I sent my application on 10/30 and received the login credentials 4 days later in my spam folder on 11/3. The email was sent by Michigan.Admissions@umich.edu and its subject was “University of Michigan Application Received.”
Does anyone know if UMichigan weighs the IBDP heavily?
Thanks ! I did find the invite in my Spam folder, I was able to login and view my application !
@Robbyb I think admissions looks at good grades as a baseline, but also difficulty of classes, diversity of extracurricular classes and how they relate to your interests. I also have relatively good grades I would say but kind of worried about in terms of extracurriculars
The CDS states that extracurriculars are “considered,” but they’re not marked “important” or “very important.” My gut feeling is that UMich is far more GPA, test score, LOR and essay driven. Personally, I wouldn’t be too worried about extracurriculars.
My account says “early action - requested” my school report and rec were received nov 2 and nov 3. Do I still qualify?
