University of Michigan Class of 2023 Early Action

Just received my acceptance today! Honestly completely shocked… so excited

are there three versions of the deferral letter? just wondering

Daughter accepted! OOS
Nursing
ACT 32 with 34 on science
GPA 3.9
Volunteer work at ambulance corps, hospital, Yale nursing program, varsity tennis, school clubs
7 AP’s
Honors classes
Honor society
Good essays, toured nursing school and communicated with admin
Dad is alum and sister is a current student

@momzilla2D Meant deferred sorry.

Bit of advice…I emailed the the Michigan recruitment officer for my high school after I was deferred basically telling her that Michigan was still my top choice. She told me that my continued interest would be noted in the further evaluation of my application. I highly recommend doing this if you’re serious about attending Michigan, it might be what ultimately got me in!

Accepted Michigan EA College of Engineering OOS

1570, 35, 3.97/4.4 UW/W

No major awards, other than Commended National Merit Scholar
Summer: Studying mathematics at NYU, Running Camp, small business stuff
Founder Math Club, Leader XC and Track
Running own business (can’t get too specific, but engineering related and making money)

Strengths:
Quadruple Legacy
Showed lots of demonstrated interest, toured like 4 times and grew up in Michigan

Weaknesses:
Few relevant awards
Poorly written supplemental essays
No real hooks other than Legacy, and my family doesn’t donate much

Don’t even worry if you got deferred; our salutatorian was deferred (4.8 GPA, crazy extracurriculars)
Just send a LOCI in January and hope for the best! Many people who are deferred get accepted in regular anyways.

Good luck to all for the rest of the apps process!

Child accepted LSA

Visited and toured campus

Could I get in RD?

I don’t know if this has already been said, but it appears that the people who turned in their applications earlier were the ones who were accepted. This probably means that the University didn’t have enough time to review all the applicants and just deferred a lot of them. As follows, my question now is what is the latest date someone submitted their application and still got in?

If the recommendation letter is postmarked after 1 Nov, then the application is moved to the RD pool, isn’t it? Do any of you know about this issue?

@SaltyBoi, I submitted the app less than 12 hours before the deadline. And I got in to LSA.
When you submitted your app definitely didn’t factor into their decisions, guys.

@DodosAreDead , sorry, forgot to specify, I was talking about the CoE

Deferred from CoE, submitted my application 4 hours before midnight on the day of deadline, act:34 gpa 4+, a bunch of extracurriculas

So far I have also been accepted to Notre Dame. My best friend was deferred from this school which was really a shock considering he is significantly smarter than I am. I really hope he gets in regular decision. Fingers crossed that everyone ends up in the right place!

@saltyboi I got into CoE and i submitted a few days before the deadline

I would love for that to be true for all who were deferred but my D applied 10 pm on 10/31 OOS and was accepted. She has great stats but there are people with the same or better than her. None of it makes sense to me!!!

@Trekko10 actually the dates on test scores/letters/transcripts are just when they were processed, most of mine were marked 11/02 or 11/03 but I was accepted to CoE

Accepted to LSA.

Still waiting to hear back from a few schools RD and good luck to everyone!!!

@jerseymom52 schools now want a well blended community of various types of students and no longer focus on GPA and test scores (holistic review). Congrats to your daughter! My daughter is at USC and says her incoming class is a great blend as well.
