Has anyone who applied to the Music Matters Big Thinkers Scholarship heard back yet? Or the four-year renewable scholarship?
@zzingoh congrats to your daughter! my daughter is applying to nursing next year- do you mind sharing her stats? Thank you
Has anyone received merit aid?
My better halfs daughter just accepted yesterday to M-Engin Academy 2 yr program after Early Decision acceptance to CoE. 6 weeks in A2 this summer, then first 2 years monthly peer group meetings and academic support, fast track to paid internships, and a 1st yr 3k stipend.
Still waiting on scholarship, merit and need based aid…getting nervous/antsy as she already accepted at U of M and turned down 10k Presidential Scholarship to CoE at Purdue…so far Federal and State of MI FA covers 40% of costs including loans…hoping to not have to do loans, bordeline on asset qualification for Go Blue Guarantee…anyone else on pins and needles too?
Still waiting on LSA Merit Aid…
LSA should release Merit decisions around April 15th ±
Good Luck
Anyone accepted into Taubman?
If you don’t plan to attend, rescind ur application so waitlisters can get in!!
So if we already received our financial aid package, there’s still hope for Merit Scholarship for L&S?
I think so yes maybe. It seems as though there is still a wave of LSA Merit decisions around the 15th give or take a few days. D18 likes Michigan a lot so we wait patiently.
Best of Luck to All
Hey, it’s worth noting I just got my merit scholarships like, April 5th. (They were local ones, though, like specifically for people coming from my town; I didn’t get regents or anything.) The four year renewable scholarships get released next week, so it’s totally possible you may still get some.
@Nyomio some money is better then no money at all. Congratulations on your scholarships.
Is it just LAS merit being released next week? Or other colleges too?
@nyomio do you know if the two-year and returning student scholarships are also released next week? I’m a transfer student
Hi Prd,
I only inquired about the LSA scholarship info and they suggested this week starting today.
If/once anyone hears anything on scholarships going forward please post here to help with
understanding/expectations/knowing
Super Thanks
@hugebig10girl Sorry, but I couldn’t say! The only reason I know about the four-year is an email notification. Plus, I’m not sure they’d tell a new student about anything for transfers/returnings. I hope so, though!
Yo buddy that’s hella impressive to say the least! I mean u probably got umich at this point plus other great universities (have u considered georgetown by any chance?) Anyways, no matter where u go, u should be proud of ur accomplishments because, wow, there are a lot. Good luck in your future endeavors!
Has anyone been invited to register for orientation yet?
My D was admitted as OOS and she really loves the university. Unfortunately, she did not get a scholarship nor grant and we have to pay full cost to attend the university. We have income of 120K and are not rich enough to pay 69K. She also was admitted in-state NJ with Honors College and 10K scholarship. We are torn between the schools. Should we deny her first top choice to UMich and tell her to go to in state? Which is the right decision for my D and us?
@dspak77. I am not sure the question. You already stated you can’t afford the tuition. How are you going to come up with the money x 4 years? She can only take out 27,500/4 years. That is $5000 the first year and it raises up a bit for the following years. The rest is on you.
Do you have any investment accounts like 529 plans for her. I personally wouldn’t touch retirement accounts. That’s for you not her. I wouldn’t mortgage the house and take out equity… Again that’s for you.
We couldn’t send my daughter to her top choice for the same reason. She went to her second choice with good merit. She was happy there till she transfered to her 3rd choice with great merit.
Hi dispak
We have a similar situation with U of M and other schools. U of M is supposed to come out with scholarship money for LSA this week. Call them and ask if there is still a chance for you too.
Without that aid and we are in the same situation as you and there is no way we would send her to U of M for the near full ride we are faced. So we are hopeful to get something this week as she would love to go to U of M too. But she understands that no merit aid means not happening.
NJ Dad too. Same offer instate as your situation. Honors and $10,000 instate. Making it sub $30,000. Much easier than $55,000
