University of Michigan Deferral Thread EA 2020

Yay!

This is what I received after sending a letter of interest:
Thank you for your continued interest in the University of Michigan; please be assured that it will be noted in my evaluation of your application, along with the additional accomplishments you shared. The university received a record breaking 30,000 early action applications this year, so admission was very competitive. Please note that we use a holistic and comprehensive review process and we looked at all aspects of your application before a decision was made taking into consideration your grades, curriculum, test scores, essays, and extra-curricular involvement.

Before we can make a final decision on your application we need to further evaluate the strength of the regular decision applicants, as well as the yield rate of our admitted students to determine space availability in the freshman class. We will add your 1st semester senior year grades when they arrive so they can be considered as we continue to assess your application; other than that there is nothing further we need from you at this time. As stated in your deferral letter, we will have a final admissions decision for you by early April.

I hope this information helps; please feel free to contact me if you have any additional questions or concerns.

Best Wishes,
Counselor

Do you think that the email we received indicates anything? Ive seen all different kind of responses from counsellors and that people have been accepted after receiving a variation of responses. Just wonderin’.

is there any chance some of us could receive a decision this Friday?

and those of you asking about letter responses- there is no good or bad response. it’s just good that they replied because it means they noted your interest. my counselor hasn’t even replied and I am getting a little worried.

I’m an international student and received my acceptance email yesterday (Tuesday) at 3PM Eastern Time, after being deferred in December! So happy!

32 ACT. SAT II: 740 Math Level 2 and 720 Spanish. Full IB Diploma Candidate, submitted a 6 score on an SL French exam. I don’t know my GPA, but my grades for the first semester of senior year weren’t too high:
3 B’s, 2 A’s, and 1 C. They were considerably better in Junior year, though,.

Go blue!!

prancingazelle27, could you tell us which country/region you are from? My son is studying at a boarding school in the US but he came from Asia. He was deferred in Dec and he is still waiting for the acceptance email.

sandipops, when were you accepted? I assume you were deferred in Dec but got accepted recently.

has anyone received their acceptance packet yet?

will we hear tomorrow ???

will there be any results tomorrow?

Based on previous years, I don’t think there will be any more decisions until the 26th, but I’m holding out hope for you guys! [-O<

Hi, I got deferred from engineering in Dec but I got an offer for a HAIL interview last month. I will obviously do the interview, but my question is, does that mean I’ll get in if I don’t blow the interview? Does anyone get a HAIL interview and not get in? Thanks.

HAIL interview doesn’t mean much from what I can tell…my S was offered one, he requested it, and was never contacted by an interviewer. He was deferred and still waiting for a decision.

Has anyone not received their official acceptance letter? I’m OOS and haven’t got mine yet.

I received my package Friday. I’m in state though and only 2 hours from Ann Arbor.

I live in Georgia and I got my acceptance letter on friday
