University of Michigan Deferred Applicants Class of 2022

Is there any schedule to the waves (weekly, etc) or has it been more or less random in the past?

My view decision tab hasn’t gone away yet. Does this mean they haven’t even started to review my application yet?

@NCstudent2022 hey. Any changes on your end?
Still no decision tab. Worried.

No fixed schedule but more often on Fridays. Also, there are usually two peaks, one in Feb and one in March.

So does that mean we have to wait until March?

No, you don’t have to. There are just 2 peaks but small batches in other weeks.

What should I write in my LOCI?

Decision button still here, no changes at all :frowning:

Your regional admissions officer, ask your college counselor who to send it to

Did anyone get in from instate? A lot of the acceptances seem from OOS

So there’s batches every week on Thursday/Friday? They don’t release decisions on any other day? Also can anyone tell me my chances of admission I really want to attend and have legacy.

It should be a high match for you with be both GPA and SAT below admission average from in-state.

I sent a loci and wrote really great essays

Also, sending a LOCI helps tremendously. I come from a very competitive high school where majority of students have above a 33 ACT, and many 36ers I know who also had 4.0 unweighted GPAs (12-13 of them) got deferred. I was one of those, yet I was the only one among them to send a LOCI and I was the only one among them who got in yesterday. To put this in perspective, one of my friends got into Stanford and was deferred from Michigan early, and another got into Duke and deferred from Michigan early. ONE GOT INTO MIT AND CALTECH AND STILL DEFERRED FROM MICHIGAN. Keep in mind that these students hadn’t told the Umich where they had received admission. None of them sent a LOCI, and they continue to remain deferred. Michigan needs to see your interest in its school. If you were deferred, and out of state, SEND A LOCI! So important. Especially important if you are an “overqualified” applicant; one applying to ivy leagues and applying Michigan as a low match rather than a reach school. Michigan is trying to improve its yield which is why they deferred like every early applicant who was competitive for Ivy League and out of state.

I sent a LOCI but had no reply. Is this typical? Should I be forward the email again just in case or am I worrying for no reason?

@tivvn9612 who did you send your LOCI to?

@nobody76 my regional admissions counselor

new & prospective student business not working for anyone else?

@curveboi Many links under students are not working.

Can someone read my LOCI to see if it is appropriate?
