University of Michigan Deferred Applicants Class of 2022

My decision tab is still there

Wait for the email. It does not matter if they have a batch at 3pm or not as you may be not part of it. SMTD is a kind of random. Someone was admitted last Friday. I know one was admitted even on 4/30 with scholarship a few years ago.
If you check your WA, disappearance of your EA decision or not means nothing. Only the appearance of new decision link matters.

I have been following this thread since my S was deferred but this is my first post. My S received an email several weeks ago offering him a HAIL interview which he accepted. He has an interview scheduled for next Thursday. This morning he received the following email:

"As you know, students with complete applications will receive their final admission decision by early April. With the HAIL interview window extending through March 25, it’s possible that you could receive your final admission decision before your interview takes place.

We have assembled this quick FAQ to help guide your decision making process in this event.

What if I am admitted before my HAIL interview?
That’s great! You can decide whether or not you’d like to meet with the alum. It could still be a great opportunity to chat with someone who has been there before.

What if I am denied or waitlisted before my HAIL interview?
In that case, there is no need to complete the interview. Pick a school that you were admitted to and get excited about attending in the Fall. You might also consider transferring to Michigan Engineering. "

The timing makes me think there is a wave coming shortly. Did anyone else receive this?

To my understanding, the HAIL interview has little impact on admission. It is more for the student to learn more about the school.

For the Hail interview, do you sign up for consideration or do they select and invite you?

@alex10499 The latter.

I believe they invite you if they have Alumni in your area. My S was invited in the fall before the early action deadline and he passed because he heard the HAIL interview had little impact on admission. Then after being deferred he felt it would look like he was interested if he passed the second time.

good luck everyone

Nothing yet.

So… was it another one of those wild goose chases?

Nothing…

I’m wondering if maybe the decisions will come out tomorrow (tonight at midnight) because the last “wave” came out on a Friday in early February. Does anybody know anything about this?

@csekar15 probably. can’t trust any special “intel” you hear on here

Bamboozled yet again. The worst part about this one is it raises doubts about a midnight release too.

Just curious if everyone still in “deferred” RD status applied to College of Engineering.

@cnew211 obviously yes.

i do not think they would be released this early in the day. There are many kids at school still (think west coast) and they usually don’t do it until most kids would be home from school. So regardless if it is today or tomorrow, it is TOO early to release decisions in the day!

Even if acceptances get released today or tomorrow, don’t expect them at midnight. All the schools I’ve seen release them around dinnertime, when students are more likely to be home. Colleges (and high schools) don’t want students waiting up half the night to check their status.

@choski94 The last wave that came out on Feb 2nd was released at midnight. I don’t see why they wouldn’t do it again at midnight. I’m not saying they are going to. I’m just saying that they have done it as recently as last month.
