University of Michigan Deferred Thread!

Hey Everyone!
Since it seems like so many people have gotten deferred from U of M, we should have a thread where we can chance each other, talk about what to do now, discuss when we'll find out, etc.

Anyone think they'll start releasing decisions in February? That would be pretty awesome!

There’s already one of these but nothing wrong with another! out of curiosity, what did everybody get for there 7th semester? I had a 3.28 with straight B’s in core classes :frowning: all honors and AP though.

i forget unweighted, but weighted i got a 4.5. i’m not going to send it in though because i only had a few As, plus I just don’t think it would help my application at all.

I got straight A’s lol, sent it in and emailed my regional lady who didn’t reply, I might try faxing

i’m talking to my reviewing counselor on the phone tomorrow!

^HOW!!! I have the name and email of mine and he never responded to my email!!! Please how’d you do that? pm if you want

I was deferred from UofM the week before Christmas. I still haven’t heard back from the admissions office, but seemingly, I could care less about hearing back from them. I got accepted to Bryn Mawr College ED II with a more than generous financial aid package (better than anything UofM could have offered me, merit based, or need-based.)

Good luck to those who are still waiting for Michigan’s reply! :)

Got deferred but accepted to Univ. of Colorado’s Honors Program. Michigan would still be my first choice if I got accepted however, I’m very happy with CU. CU is very good in the sciences and I’d love to do something with journalism, and they have a program just devoted to environmental journalism. Also waiting to hear from Cal, UCLA, UCSB and UCSD.

Good luck guys :), I’m hoping you all get admitted!

congrats on u of colorado ckl22! i would really love to attend michigan, but with my stats, i think it’s a lonnnnnggggg shot.

but i’m hoping for the better :)

MechiganBoy, i sincerely hope you’re not telling me that, for i’ve already pmed you once.

I didn’t get one. hmmmmm. let me try to pm you.

Good news! I got in!

Lolygagha, you and I have simliar scores/stats. So don’t be discouraged. I’ve read many of your posts and have a pretty good idea of your situation. I have an 1860 SAT, like you, and a bit higher GPA (3.7 Unweighted) but I still got into Engineering… of all places. I have a pretty unique high school and I bet that was my ticket in. But if you have 500 hours of service on top of a competitive school then that should get you in too, IMO.

Good luck to everyone else. I hope yall can recieve some good news soon.

O and I got the good letter btw. Never sent in anything else extra. No mid year grades, no resume, nothing. Not even a phone call. That being said I think its safe to say that when your deferred(atleast for the good letter) that you are continually being reviewed for admission.

CONGRATS GoOakland!!! Do you think you’re going to go to U of M? It’s very very very reassuring to hear that you got in with stats similar to mine!

Question about tuition: are OOS students considered IN-STATE for soph-senior year? Just wondering if OOS students have to pay the OOS tuition for four years, or if they only have to pay OOS tuition for one year.

AFAIK: All four years.

I had 3 As, 1 B and a C+. I am taking 3 AP classes and hope that they take this into consideration. I received the “good” letter and am hoping for a quick answer. UofM is my first choice school and I cannot take the waiting any longer.

Does anyone know the statistics of how many people received the “good” letter and historically what percentage of students who received this type of letter were granted acceptances? And did most of these people have to wait until April 15th?

God my 7th semester sucks. I got 2 As and 3 Bs. I guess that’s what you get when you have 2 Es, 1 D, 1 C and 1 A, 3/4 through the first quarter. I can’t send in my crappy grades, probably instant rejection. Has anyone else gotten into Michigan after getting deferred EA and received a “good” letter?

1) So don’t send your grades in then…
2) Yes. Look in the decisions thread.
