I was wondering, if you were accepted to the school of music, but not to LSA, if you could still somehow do a double major. I read on the website that your advisor has to approve for cross transfer, so could you enroll as a freshmen to the school of music, and then apply to LSA as a double major student? Also, how hard is it to get accepted for cross transfer? Thanks

hello? anyone? please? lol

this will decide whether I will go to University of Michigan or not

Not sure about how hard it is, but I've heard of students doing both. I don't think it's too hard to do. You should probably just research it more on the website.

I thought that all Music majors had to first be admitted into the college of LSA. But even if that's not the case, I am pretty sure you can take classes in LSA and if you do well, I am pretty sure you can cross transfer. I have known many students who double majored in Music and either a science or a humanity.

It is much more difficult to be accepted into the music school because you have to audition.

If you are accepted into the music school, there is nothing to prevent you from taking courses in LSA or any other undergraduate major as long as you meet the course prerequisites and there are openings in the classes. In fact, you will probably have to take courses in LSA to fulfill your graduation requirement for the music school anyway.

However, you should work w/ an advisors in the music school and LSA to optimize the classes that you take so that they apply toward degrees in both majors.

yes. we had to go through a preliminary academic review before being able to audition. I'm not sure if that was your acceptanace to LSA, since all you need is a 3.0 gpa and sat above 1000 to get past that. lol. But thanks for all the information! I just got a bit scared because the website said that in order to do be a double major, you have to get accepted to both schools. It relieves me to know that I could just get accepted to the music school and then declare a double major after that! =)
