University of Michigan EA class of 2020 thread

I submitted 2 days before it was due and haven’t heard either.

Deferred LSA. ACT 31, GPA 3.85, OOS.

S applied 8/31 or around then. No email, no decision link.

where does it say “early action qualified”?

[ b]Decision: Accepted** to LSA in state. 28 ACT and 4.0 GPA. Best day of my life!

HEY LISTEN UP EVERYONE:

  1. You will receive an email for whatever decision you get
  2. They release these in batches (presumably not to crash their server, which has been crashing all afternoon)
  3. They reject high achieving applicants, especially those from out of state, because they expect you to get in somewhere better and go there/only applied for the heck of it
  4. Don’t assume anything until you get the email
  5. Go take a bath and calm the heck down

@emilyskates , Deferrals may also be a result of application overload again. We really don’t know. But I don’t see how Michigan would not admit you in a month or two. Make sure you let the admissions office know that you will attend if accepted.

@pumped4xmas in the application data, other info section

Someone said they received a scholarship. Has anyone else gotten any merit? If so, where did you see the notification of the merit?

@pumped4xmas click “view application data” and it will be towards the bottom

Do you guys think that with each wave, the amount of deferrals go up and the amount of acceptances go down?

Deffered

Just got deferred. I remember people saying there were good deferral letters and bad deferral letters. This is the letter I received.

Dear ____,

Thank you for your application to the University of Michigan College of Literature, Science, and the Arts for Fall 2016. We are pleased that you have applied and are impressed with your achievements. However, our high application volume, coupled with the very strong credentials of our applicants in recent years, has contributed to an increasingly competitive admissions process. As a result, we are writing to inform you that your application is currently being deferred for further review.

While we recognize this is not the answer that you were hoping to hear, perhaps particularly so because of your family ties with the University, your application remains under consideration. All final admissions decisions of admit, deny, or waitlist will be made no later than early April, 2016.

Strong fall semester or trimester grades may improve your status in the deferred pool of applicants. Therefore, please ask your high school counselor to forward them when they become available. Beyond that, we are confident that the information you have given us is more than sufficient for a final decision. The most successful candidates send us only what we require. Please refer to the website https://umich.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/2080 for FAQ’s about the admission process and what to do next.

We hope your interest in Michigan continues. You have our best wishes for an enjoyable and successful end of your senior year.

Sincerely,

Erica L. Sanders
Interim Director

@AcceptableName what time did you find out?

Well, I got into PSU just now, which is nice. Atleast I have one safety down.

has anybody from the chicago-land area heard anything??

kind of sad because in the email they say “Strong fall semester or trimester grades may improve your status in the deferred pool of applicants.”. I’ve taken 6 AP classes and have all As. What more could they possibly want. :frowning:

Received email, deferred. No changes in portal.
2 deferrals in an afternoon, UChicago and U of M. Son is heart broken but hopefully he feels better after coming back from watching Star Wars.

Can you elaborate a little bit @UMParent2015
does this mean that if deferred, I may know before April 2016?

@akhilles They sent me an e-mail at 4:50 pm.
