How's umich's reputation internationally? I'm an international student from Korea and I'll be starting my career in Korea after college; therefore, I want to know how much respect Umich commands internationally, especially in Korea.
Thanks!

U-M’s international reputation is solid. I am an international student as well (not from East Asia though) and whenever I mention that I go this school, people instantly recognize it and start talking about how good it is.

There are many students from Korea here so you’ll have plenty of opportunities for networking as well.

actually there are quite a few from east asia like china hongkong, korea, etc. I’m a South Asian but hold citizenship from a South East Asian countries.

reputation in China
Berkeley>Umich>USC>UNC>UIUC

Michigan’s reputation in East Asia is definitely substantial. I would not worry too much about it. Harvard, MIT, Cal and Stanford will obviously have stronger reputations in East Asia, but Michian would make most top 10 or top 15 lists of American universities.

There are currently 721 Korean students enrolled at the University of Michigan (262 undergrad + 459 grad). It is the largest group among internationals followed by China (670) and India (527).
