I'm planning on majoring in communication and thinking about going into the field of advertising in the future. I've been living in MI for my entire life, but I still have to pay the out-of-state tuition for UM because I'm not a permanent resident. So it'll cost me a lot for either choice I choose. It'll be easier for me to stay in MI because most of my friends are going to UM, my family is here, and I like Ann Arbor(where UM is located in). But I love Boston and I hear Boston has good programs for communication from a lot of ppl, but not many feedbacks about UM about communication program.

Can anyone give me an advice?

Um is a great school but not particularly strong in communications while BU is the opposite. BU.

BU if you have to pay out of state for Michigan.

PS by attending BU you'll have a much easier time finding better internships since you'll have Boston at your feet, while you gain experience during school.

barrons:

yes, i'm getting a lot of that kind of impressions too.

liek0806:

that's a really good point...but by the way, i've been hearing that people at BU are snobby and uptight and that their housing rule sucks. Is that true?

id go to BU cuz i love Boston

I don't know where you heard that "people at BU are snobby and uptight." That's terrible misinformation.

The communications school has an excellent reputation.

Regarding the housing policy, heres a link to a thread. A current BU freshman helps to explain it.

BU is the most overpriced piece of **** education out there, hope this helps.

I am choosing BU. You can't beat being in a large city like Boston for internships and their Comm. School has outstanding and well known faculty and alumni. Hope to see you there.

I appreciate everyone who gave his/her advice to me! Thank you much. I attended the reception for BU at my local and I think I'm going there.

kinshasa:

thanks for giving me those links, it helped. I think I won't be too bothered by the guest policy at BU.

drummerboy:

i guess i'll wee you there in fall!

Guess you already chose. But I think UM would've been a better choice... and I live in Boston, have nothing against Boston, like the city, and all... but, BU is not the best school if you want academic quality. Plus, they have huge classes. However, you can look forward to the nice dorms.
