University of Michigan RD class of 2020 thread

yo when do decisions come out for this school

@Honickmonster they don’t.

hey yall i’m a current student at U-M and I know you all are really frustrated and just want to hear back at this point, but I urge you to not count out a school solely based on how long they take to get back to you. I was waiting until March until I heard back and it’s super stressful and aggravating, but U-M is dealing with 60,000 apps right now that are read at least twice, but usually three times and sometimes even more.

Admissions is working nights, weekends, overtime to properly do their jobs and get these done as fast as they can so you hopefully don’t have to wait until mid april to hear back so just try relax as much as you can and make the most of your last few months in high school It’s definitely possible to get in later, so don’t lose hope!!! <3

@collegestressin Thousands of students are still waiting for decisions from Ivy League universities. So it is not as if Michigan is alone. A lot of the stress is being self-generated with rumors of only rejections now left to be announced. Zero substance in any of these rumors.

@P16NEER Merit aid rarely covers all, or even most, of your costs. I would look elsewhere if you do not think you qualify for need-based aid.

I hope that IF I get admitted to UMich (please UMich admission people? :(( ) I do get a significant amount of aid, as I would really need it to pay the heavy fees of OOS undergraduates. :frowning:

@terr24lr do you think there’s space left in the school of engineering?

At this point i don’t even care about aid. I just wanna get in!!!

@blazedragon If you need aid, you will receive it. UM has been significantly improving its financial aid for OOS students.

@firelord1 engineering is probably one of the most popular colleges at MU. Because of that I don’t see a reason why they wouldn’t go over more engineering applicants. It seems like you are a little stressed and anxious haha! I will reassure you…you don’t know what the real decision is until you open up that “view decision” button. People will say it’s over and that the rest are rejections but I guarantee you that is not the case. Until then, you have just as much of a shot as anyone else. Don’t doubt yourself :slight_smile:

Someone got rejected from my school today or yesterday. So I don’t know how everything’s gonna work out

@unilife2016 Everything is going to work out, don’t worry. :slight_smile: We all are really stressed out, but I am sure we will all end up somewhere nice…hopefully even in UMich!

@blazedragon I hope so.

Guys, you have almost all have been admitted to some terrific schools. Michigan is great, and hopefully you will still get in, but if not, calm down and appreciate the amazing opportunities that you do have.

What are the chances of Michigan releasing decisions on Thursday (Ivy Day) ? Personally, I think it’s rather unlikely. I know UM releases huge batches on Fridays but Ivy Day is pondering and I hope they take that into consideration.

Hah!

I have a theory that they may be doing decisions alphabetically by school, since my school is relatively late in the alphabet and no one from my school has heard back from Michigan yet. Is there anyone who has heard back with a school name late in the alphabet, or who hasn’t heart back with a school name early in the alphabet?

@pumped4xmas This is interesting. My school starts with W and I haven’t heard back yet.

@pumped4xmas My school starts with A and I haven’t heard back yet. I am the only person that applied from my school though.

@pumped4xmas my school starts with A and I still haven’t heard back… And I know a bunch of ppl who already got in at my school

My school starts with J. I think I’m the only one from my school who applied so I don’t have much to go off on
