University of Michigan Regular Decision Class of 2022

@ambeeywlo I know thats kinda depressing but everyone who got a reply on that day (who I know) were all accepted (myself included) but I am no authority on this matter so just be hopeful and concentrate on other important things.
Best of Luck.

^^^^@Fonz93 it is my understanding that there will be at least one more big wave of RD acceptances. Almost every other school will release next Friday or Monday (except Ivies). I suspect you will see something on the 16th.

I applied to UM on the deadline to LSA.

My stats are as followed-
sat-1440
math 2 sat- 780
IB points- 40/45
Plus a ton of volunteering and internships and other extracurricular activities.

Are these stats competitive enough to get me in?

Does applying Regular decision lower your chances? In other words, if you are a decent candidate will you be at a disadvantage just because you applied RD?

@RACOON1012: Yes, you are at a disadvantage because a good number of the slots allotted for incoming freshman students have already been filled by the initial round of accepted EA applicants. So there is a smaller number of available spaces that the deferred EA applicants and the RD applicants are competing for.

@RACOON1012 The main disadvantages of not applying EA are the ineligibility to most merit scholarships and would not have a chance to get an admission offer earlier. They claims to have the same criteria for both EA and RD. If you are qualified to be admitted in EA, you will be admitted in RD as there are many got deferred in EA and got admitted later. On the other hand, if you are not admitted in RD, you would not be admitted even applied in EA.

Thank you!! @gandalf78

Thank you @billcsho for a detailed response. It is good to hear that UMICH has the same criteria for RD and EA.

Is there still hope for any large acceptance batches? or at this point, it is almost over?

@StanfordAspirant Sorry the late reply, but yep, I’m an Indian (not living in India) and I got my decision on the 2nd of March~

@RACOON1012 It is not over. I have two friends who are currently students at UM and both of them received their acceptance decisions in early April. So just keep calm and hang in there~

@happygal2017 thank you for the information. Since you replied, we are definitely best friends now and I am expecting my acceptance in early april as well. :))

Does anyone know when we will hear?

the 16th is my guess.

I have a bad feeling about not receiving my decision yet.

Same

@gandalf78 @billcsho We were recently at UM and asked admissions if RD students were at a disadvantage since deferred EA students were still receiving decisions. They were quite emphatic in stating that the EA program was now complete and decisions were now being sent to the remaining pool, which includes RD students and deferred EA ones. The woman stated quite specifically that deferred EA students were neither at a competitive advantage or disadvantage as there was just one pool now.

For what it is worth, she said many students would still be admitted. She might have just been saying that, but in past years there were many smiles in late March.

@exlibris97 I have been telling people all deferred from EA are RD and the EA has been long done, while people keep asking when the EA deferral admission to be announced or complaining about the long wait.
We know the RD is not done yet. I have seen people admitted in April in the past. I just got buried by the rejection and wait list notice.

Does anyone know if decisions are being released today?

Nothing here… ughhh I’m quickly losing hope
