@CalMich - My DS’s acceptance came through the portal and through email in the morning of March 3 Saturday (not Friday like most folks for some reason). His official letter and certificate came together about a week later. The letter was dated March 2 and from the general admissions office. The certificate is specific to LSA.
Can someone call the admissions office to find out likely dates when decisions should be released? I’m out of the country rn so can’t do it myself.
Mostly rejections by now…
How do you know this?
I mean not only what I heard but also they already held the visiting day so…
I applied RD to Ross and LSA. They didn’t even updated my Ross application. It is just sitting there.
Does anyone know if there are still engineering scholarships to be given out? I am hoping to get one since Michigan did not give me much aid. Also, do you think they will consider giving me more money if I show them packages from other schools that gave me much higher grants?
Why would they release acceptances only and then wait to just release rejections? Why not at the same time?
@engineering2022: I seriously doubt that U of Michigan is going to be impressed with what other schools offered you by way of grant or merit aid money. It’s not as if Michigan is lacking for high statistic/GPA engineering applicants; there will be lots of students on a waitlist who have statistics and GPA just as good, if not better, than yours. So if you decline your offer of admission and aid, Michigan will simply take the next person up – and probably save the cost of your aid award in the process.
lol, that pretty much sums it up quite nicely
@engineering2022: Ignore the noise. If you have a better financial aid pkg do share with other universities that have accepted you and some (most) will review your pkg and adjust if they deem appropriate. Only they can make the call but most universities will attempt to make college affordable for the student. It’s not a special service or favor they are doing for just YOU. Its a philosophy/principal of the kind of school they want to be known for (i.e. ist for ALL). Do what’s right for you and ignore the noise of other which may not have your best interest at heart.
Is it actually bad that I haven’t heard back yet? Or is this just speculation? Michigan is one of my top schools, so that would suck if it’s true
@duuudeee maybe some merit, but there would be no rationale behind artificially holding back rejections until now. If you had been rejected a few months ago they wouldn’t have waited. They have a lot of apps to go through so understandably some haven’t heard back yet. Keep your head up, man.
@Fonz93 When we went to the Ross info session over the summer, we were told to apply EA to have a better chance of getting into Ross since they do not get to read the Ross application until the student has been admitted to the school. Then it takes at least 3 or more weeks after. If the student is deferred or has not been given a decision regarding the admission, there is no way for Ross to see the applications.
View decision link went away for the first time today (from deferral.) sometime between 3 and 7pm
