University of Michigan School of Kinesiology EA Class of 2023

Can’t believe no one else had started this thread yet, best of luck to everyone!

Is it true that Kinesiology is the easiest school to get into EA?

I think other schools like Engineering and Nursing require better academic credentials than Kinesiology, but I wouldn’t say that it is easier to get into

Everyone post your stats so we can get an idea for the applicant pool…

Intended Kinesiology Major: Sports Management

Interest: Extremely High (one campus visit & info session)

@umichkinesiology For what it’s worth my daughter was admitted last year to LSA (like very many deferred, then accepted in regular decision) with very similar stats to yours: OOS, 1390, 3.9uw, no legacy or other hooks, just a few more APs, lifeguard, music, tennis, campus visit. So don’t let the posts that call out SATs in the 1400s as “too low” lead you to believe you’re not a viable applicant for Kines.

Work: Lifeguard
Interest: High - Kinesiology dept.visit and Campus tour

Has anyone from EA Deferred been accepted into the school of Kinesiology?

@StevenW nope, I looked on the thread from last year and the earliest deferral acceptance to kinesiology was on 2/6 so hopefully soon

How many kids are accepted in the school of kinesiology? There seems to be a lack of acceptances. I was deferred EA for kinesiology and am very uncertain of when they’ll accept anymore people

@MAhoose I spoke to kinesiology academic advisers. The told me 180 were accepted EA. Last year they accepted a total of 250, so I would guess that 70 more kids will be accepted in the RD round.

wow that’s not many acceptances, especially compared to engineering and LSA. how many kids usually apply per year? i’m sure some spots are reserved for athletes too for kinesiology

For the Class of 2022, there were 166 new Kinesiology students that enrolled at UMich. So, if UMich Kinesiology accepted 250 students last year, then their yield would have been 66%.

@MAhoose last year they had 1,500 total applicants and accepted 250, thus making the acceptance rate 16.7%. According to an email I got from a kines alum, they had a record-high amount of applicants this year, so my guess would be a 15% acceptance rate.

Also, many of those spots are reserved for athletes since all the majors are sport-related, so the 15% acceptance rate is actually lower for a normal applicant. I’m just relieved I got in. Good Luck!

wow I wish I knew that beforehand. I would’ve applied LSA than

Has anyone’s decision tab disappeared? Mine is still there i’m NY and applied for Sports Management

Im OOS and still no disappearance to portal or update. Anyone else’s change? seems like no acceptances in this wave

My daughter was accepted to Kines at midnight last night. In State 3.9 UW, 1430 SAT. Strong Feeder HS. Good luck to those still waiting.
