So I have been accepted to the summer bridge at UofM. I am a resident of Michigan and the fee for the program is 5,668 so exactly how does the financial package work for the program. i know someone who attended the program and they received 2000 back. My parents AGI for the 2009 tax return was 47,000 with 6 people in the family. can someone give me an estimate of how much i would have to pay for the program.

Congratulations! Just curious…what are your stats?

Thank you. I have a 3.96 GPA with a 24 on my ACT. I have a lot of other extracurricular activities. I don’t know why i was put in the bridge program. My essays were really good. My friend had a lower GPA and lower ACT, but he wasn’t put in the program.

Are you going to attend summer bridge?

I don’t think the summer bridge is optional. If you are admitted into summer bridge, you have to do it to gain admittance. Admissions flag students for the program if they think the summer program is needed to ready the student for U-M. I’m assuming the ACT has something to do with Flash 10x being put in the program but there is no hard and fast rule.

I mean I know that it is not optional. I have to do it myself and I for one think that it is extremely beneficial. I also will have to say that it does not necessarily have to do with GPA and ACT scores. I mean that is a contributor, don’t get me wrong, and that may be the reason I was put in the program. However, I know students with 3.8 and 30 ACT and are still doing the program. It also depends on geographic location. I mean if you live in a rural city in Utah, where there is only 200 people in your city, you would definitely need some adjusting to the diverse environment that the University of Michigan offers.

So please do not think that summer bridge is where the kids who weren’t worthy got placed. The University of Michigan does not accept students not up to par with their standards. The bridge program just gives the students selected (flagged does not bring the right connotation to what you were trying to say) for the program are given the proper time to adjust before fall semester. I hope to see you, Flash10x, on June 26. Can’t wait!

I was also accepted into the summer program. I’m surprised I even got into Michigan XD

When are you notified if you have to be in the summer bridge program?

I was put in the program and they told me in my acceptance email.

I was placed into summer bridge as well and I’m for sure attending. I have a 3.58 GPA and a 25 ACT score
