University of Michigan Transfer Fall 2017

Hello,

I currently attend DePaul University in Chicago and want to transfer to UofM for Fall 2017. I will have about 96 quarter credits at the end of my sophomore year which translates to about 60 credits for semester. However, I don’t think a lot of my credits will transfer to University of Michigan, maybe 45-50 credits will. My question is do they decide whether you’re admitted or not based on how much credit will transfer over, or do they do that after your admitted? Secondly, will the courses that I will be enrolled in for future quarters that I listed on the common app be taken into account when looking at how much transfer credit I will have?

Thanks!

It depends on which college you are applying to within UM. LSA, for example, requires no specific prerequisites, however, if you plan on transferring into engineering or business, there are several courses you would have had to taken before transferring. So to answer your question, I believe if you are applying to LSA, only your overall college GPA will be a major factor when evaluating your application. Good luck!
