Is umich hard to get in?

It's fairly competitive. It's not like Ivy's where they'll deny 4.0's, but you can't slack off either.

Generally, a 3.8-4.0 will get you in, if your SAT/ACT scores reflect those scores as well.

But that's just a general thought.

hello all. i have two questions about michigan. first off, i got email #4 from michigan about a month ago, and I've been checking Wolverine Access constantly. The only link I see on the website concerning admissions says 'View Application Status' which just links the data of my application. Does this mean that no decision has been made yet?

The second question that I have is about the transition to Michigan. I am currently at a very small new-england private college (a NESCAC college). Has anyone had experience transferring from such a small college to such a large one such as Michigan? If so, how has their experience been? Can it be very intimidating?

To your first question

when a decision has been made, you get a little thing that says "View Decision" after you click Application Status or something like that.

what is the 4/4 email.

never mind, it didn't register for a moment.

Hey! I got in as a Transfer for Summer 2007.

My Cumulative GPA was only 3.0 at the max. My freshman year I was in Boston, I got a 2.3 GPA for the entire year. Second year (now) I am in a Michigan community college and I have a 3.8 GPA, so my cumulative GPA is pretty low but I still got in.

I really focused on my essays and I've done a lot of unique extracurriculars. I've been living overseas for 18 years so I guess... if you stand out then you will make it.

Good luck to all!

By the way, I got into the LSA , not the B-program. I hope to get into the B-program this all or next spring. It's impossible to get into the B-program if you are NOT a Michigan student. They take only 750 students or so a year into the program and 3% are transfers from another college. That is only 2 people.

I know one of the 2 people admitted to the B-program. He goes to my community college and he's 35, been to the army, has children - your untypical student.

Sorry I meant non-typical*

yezzir--
it seems like the deferrals are out so you're probably in...or not.

Wait...by that do you mean if we haven't been deferred at this point that we should expect either a reject/accept only?

I definately cannot say that...because....Michigan is rolling...until march 1st but they make initial sortings of the apps I believe, def. admits, def. rejects and then the defferals so that they can "fill in the gaps" for their incoming class. I know that they let defferals know asap so that they can "make alternate plans" as I believe they put it. I don't know if they do the same with rejections because.....nobody ever posts a rejection.

Hello,

I got in to the University of Michigan - Ann Arbor

I came back home, drunk, and turned on my computer hoping to watch newly added Family Guy clips on YouTube.

Somehow, I went to UMich online status site. I saw a new link that says "View Decision" and clicked.

The first line I read was "Congratulations". I closed the window and started watching the FamilyGuy.

I was finally sober around 7AM and re-checked the status. Surely, I got accepted.

It puzzles me because there are numerous errors on my applications:

spelling errors
grammar errors

a huge negative factor

-My transcript from the current institution arrived on March 2nd.

eh, whatever, I got in.

cvjn, are you 100% sure you are going to UMich?

Yeah, I paid the stuff already. You?

Not yet...

I applied to other places too...

generally, how many credits should you accumulate at your current school before applying to u mich? also, iam wondering how this credit thing works.... lets just say the MINIMUM credit u need to have is 30. so if i have 15 after the 1st semester does that mean i have to wait until the end of my second semester? or can i just apply after accumulating 15 and tell them that i WILL be getting the additional 15 in the 2nd semester. much thanks.

I had 16 credits. I have 17 this semester. I believe they looked at me as a 16 credit student, with intent for 17. Basically a mix of what you said.

I applied when I had finished 16.

Anybody else going to UMich? or accepted?

I got accepted to UMich LSA but i'm not sure if I'm going. If I get in UVA i'll go there. If not, then i'll be going to UMich. Currently I go to PSU and I'm majoring in Accounting, but I'd rather do Econ at Mich coz it is better ranked.

I got accepted for fall 2007 to LSA...I am going if I dont get into UNC or UVA......if anyone else is accepted/going im me, AIM:dvd2273

I just got in!
