Waitlist is what they decided to place you on. Extended waitlist is whether or not you choose to stay on it or to take your name off.

Wait can I ask a question, how do some of you know your “UM GPA” ?

As I just said, littlemeow, UM doesn’t recalculate GPAs anymore, so they just use what’s on your transcript.

Daughter applied September 5th, 2012. Waitlisted on 3/29/2013. Daughter chose to deny extended waitlist on 3/29/2013. (It didn’t take her 8 months to make up her mind!) She actually made up her mind about 4 mos. ago to go to a school where she was wanted. Good luck to those still on the waitlist…but we are moving on.

U-M quit recalculating gpa, but that was just for one year. They have resumed the practice, and now use all classes 9th-11th. Plusses, minuses, and weighted points are all stripped off. So an A+, A, A- are all worth 4 points, and so on. For the admitted class of 2012, the average U-M (recalculated) gpa was 3.83.

Applied 1/14
2180 SAT
4.3 GPA
lots of other stuff I’m too lazy to list it all out…
I think my problem might have been not enough interest, I was never able to visit.

Wait listed with a 31ACT, 3.7GPA OOS. Going to UCLA now!

@entenduintransit sorry didn’t see your post. I went for a campus visit in November and I was told that they DO recalculate GPA, so I was a little confused.

Someone on here has pointed out that they stopped for a while, but now they have resumed the practice. I remember trying to find the truth some months ago, and all I found was that it was halted in 2008 or 2009. But that doesn’t rule out the possibility of it being resumed, so there’s that. I’m not sure about it at this point.

Hey guys. I was also waitlisted. I am a white female from Ohio. I applied December 3rd. I had a 31 ACT, 7 total AP classes, 3.94 unweighted GPA. I was varsity gymnastics captain and my team placed 2nd in state. I am student council class VP and a former officer as Key Club. I am also a member of math and french club, and tutor kids in math. I thought my essays were pretty good, but I have not visited so perhaps they assumed I was not as interested as I could be. I accepted the waitlist offer, but will probably attend UMiami instead.
