University of Michigan Waitlist 2024

Where is the source saying their closing for fall ? Their president actually said the opposite with having a hybrid fall semester about 2 days ago on mnbc

@jmiin24 About the transfer question, I think most colleges let you transfer junior year or after you complete a certain number of credits(which is most likely going to be after by the end of sophomore year as well), so you might want to double check what’s Michigan’s requirement on this. From last year’s waitlist thread, someone that applied to CoE posted their rejection letter and it did say that Michigan encourages people to transfer Junior year if they really like the school. If that’s the case, I don’t think the current situation would really change anything. On a bright note, the transfer acceptance rate, according to Magoosh, is 42%, so it’s not that bad.

NYU is in the process of releasing waitlist today- there have been hints throughout the portal and through the albert portal (a 2nd portal)- hopefully that means Umich is soon

I have seen people from past years talking about decision tab on enrollment connect disappearing, but I think this year we don’t even have that tab anymore

The disappearing tab was in the old portal, Wolverine Access. This is the first year of Enrollment Connect and there are no disappearing tabs.

As a parent of a junior, we’re planning to head back to A2 in late August. The last message from the President of UMichigan was that large lectures may be online, but smaller discussion and lab sections would be in-person.

A little late on the reply to UMich2024 but son got off the waitlist end of April for COE CS. OOS. Deferred EA.

1500 SAT
3.98 UW GPA
Typical ECs as others but nothing that blows your socks off.
Full pay

He did not do anything special other than hit the button that added his name to the waitlist. In fact, he dId not correspond at all with admissions counselor until after acceptance.

Making final decision beween Michigan and UIUC (also COE CS)

@csnpm1 congrats to your son wherever he goes!

Good luck. We are from Illinois and this was my son’s final 2 after scratching some other great programs like Wisconsin and Purdue etc etc. He is an upcoming Senior in COE at Michigan. We live in Chicago by Wrigley. If you need some information please PM me. It always comes down to affordability so if finances are a big part of it then go your less expensive route. My son’s in Industrial (Michigan is ranked #2) but lots of CS kids in his Augmented reality/Mixed reality student org/board on campus). They have done some great work like winning the MIT hackathon…LOL…

Anyway congrats.

Congrats

Any guesses as to when the next wave will be? I’m thinking next Monday because of the first wave deadline, but if anyone else has any insights I’d love to hear them.

@user_488656 no clue- usually in the past there have been some hints on the portals, but I don’t think people are just letting decisions come out from here on out. My guess on next wave is before May 15th at the latest. Could be completely wrong lol so don’t listen to anything I’m saying.

ahh my anxiety!!!

@user_488656 Decision due date is 5/8 for those students receiving a waitlist offer and for those students requesting an extension. I suspect after 5/8.

I think it could be on friday because of may 8 deadline

is the deadline end of day 5/8?

for people who requested an extension, yes

so when should we expect a response? next week because that’s too far ugh :frowning:

What wave? Don’t think there is a next “wave” but I could be wrong. People will come off the wait list but think of it as a trickle not a wave per se

oh damn. im just really hoping for it. their enrollment numbers for OOS should be down compared to previous years.
