Use this to discuss UM winter 2021 transfers.
Does anyone know when you can first apply? Also, when is the deadline?
How do you think COVID-19 will affect admissions?
https://admissions.umich.edu/apply/transfer-students/requirements-deadlines-0
Think this has been updated.
The application deadline is October 1st just to make sure, right?
Also, yeah I don’t see the program for winter transfer on transfer.commonapp.org yet, any idea when we can first apply?
I notice that Umich’s applications are reviewed on a rolling basis.
Does that mean people who apply early could get decision early, and have higher chance to get in than people who submit their application later.
In normal times no with transfers. But these are not normal times.
Anyone have thoughts on my chances?
Demographics:
In-state applicant at a small 4-year university
Income: <$20000; EFC is 0 - Mom is unemployed, and dad works a service job (think gas station cashier, shelf restocker at Walmart, etc)
High School Stats:

High School was a pretty bad time in my life. I had a lot of family troubles, and I will be addressing all of this in my personal statement.
College stats:
Major: Linguistics + Pre-Med
GPA: 3.5ish with 51 credits with 15 credits for Fall 2020 - 50 credits will transfer
ECs: Work at university library, remote research at a OOS T100 Medical School, started a Medical Terminology Etymology Blog, participated at my school’s hackathon.
LORs: I’ll have to two Letters of Recommendations - one from my Linguistics Professor, and maybe another from boss. I’m trying to see if I can get another letter from my Biology Professor, although they still have not answered.
I will be applying as a Cognitive Science conc. Linguistics + Pre-Med major at UMich LSA
I will be a incoming sophomore I took summer classes which is why my credits are high for a freshman. I was a Computer Science + Pre-Med major, but I switched to Linguistics because my first semester was pretty awful (2.83 GPA), and it was still under the veil of Cognitive Science. Since then I have gotten all A’s with an exception of one B in my General Chemistry II class in the last two semesters (Winter and Spring/Summer).
What do you guys think?
Let’s get it dudes and dudettes.
Starting my essays with only a month left.

Basically got everything covered just gotta write some badass essays.

GPA: 3.9/5.0
ACT: 25
College stats:
Major: Biology and Exercise Science
GPA: 3.70 with 40 credits with 19 credits for Fall 2020.
ECs: Research at local university, rowing club, biology honor society, co-founder of non-profit organization, asian student org, went to Asia to present to underprivileged schools on traumatic brain injuries, volunteering at homeless shelter
Applied to LSA undeclared - maybe will decide on BCN or Biology. What are your thoughts?
Hopefully, they allow more students in because of COVID
How long does it take to recieve your UMich application portal after submitting your commonapp? I’m still waiting on commonapp to receive my college transcript which is taking forever and I’m worried that if I recieve my portal too late, I might not be able to have enough time to submit my other documents.
Last Year, most of the portals are received on Sept. 20th.
I submitted my application a week ago, but haven’t received portal yet.
Does anyone know when decisions roll around? Is it 6-8 weeks from when we submit our application or from Oct1?
Has anyone received their portal yet?
I have received mine
Just received mine
Admitted 9/25 to College of LSA

@daizy2000 I submitted the completed app during the last week of August
