University of Michigan Winter 2023 Transfer

hmm, judging by the number of posts in the fall 2021 (457 posts) and then the fall 2022 (662 posts) threads, there might have been more people applying in fall 2022 if not roughly the same amount? i believe this may have been before the two semester policy though, so the circumstances now might have changed since the last cycle

this is kinda making me nervous though :sob::sob:

gl compsci major. what r ur stats if u dont mind

hmm really worried, OOS here with 4.0 from a community college, currently at 57 transferable credits before this fall semester that I am taking right now. I have 4 LORs but I am not sure if its gonna help considering im going for Chemistry major in LSA. International student as well.

i think it’s posted above

gl to u too, and i posted them above! what are ur stats? :^D

I’m prolly not the most competitive,
White male
HS GPA: 4.0
College GPA: 3.75
Credits: 52 now, 63 by the end of the semester (currently attending community college)
My SAT is 1440 (690 and 750)
5 LOR’s
Really good essays imo
Out of State

those are some pretty good stats! here’s to hoping there’s a place for both of us at umich

unrelated but does racial demographic matter in admissions?

I’d assume that they’d prefer people from minorities more, but I doubt it’s probably negligeable.

Im Asian myself, and I Know they prefer minorities except Asians, they are held to a higher standard because there are already so many of them at UMich.

Hopefully we can start hearing back next week? The sooner you hear back the more likely you will be accepted. The first three weeks of October are all admits. After that it gets iffy and once we get into November it’s mostly rejections. I personally feel like they just pick out the strongest candidates at first until there’s no more room left, and also start eliminating weaker applicants at the end of October.

true, and its better to submit earlier since its usually more likely to get accepted, I would say its better to submit before 9/20 and get all file received before the application ddl

wait wot :skull:

yeah I got 113 but I was conservative with my answers, at least I think so.

imean, college GPA are really vary, such as someone transfer from Boston U and from Michigan state, we all know Boston U are very very GPA deflation so its not really reliable lmao

That’s why BU applicants would get an extra 5 points, as an above average transfer

My CGPA is 3.75 so +55
Upward trend since I started at 4.0 dipped to 3.2 but went back up to 4.0 so +1

I retook a one credit course which was a required course for all students (it was like an intro to college course) so maybe not -4, but maybe -1 (-1 for each credit I’m assuming)

I took Pre Calc 1, Pre Calc 2, Calc 1, Calc 2, Advanced Chem, Chem Lab, Physics, 2 Engineering courses, IT, and Statistics. Would probably give myself not quite +12 but maybe +9

I’m not sure exactly how many transferrable credits I have. I’m at 50ish not including this semester so I probably have like 40ish. Either way it’s 27-45 (even thought it’s really close to 45 I’d guess) maybe +25

4.0 GPA in HS doesn’t matter +0

HS was sorta rigorous, couple AP’s, couple Honors, advanced math here and there so +4

SAT in 1400’s is +4

Essays were good, probably not extraordinary, but better than “average.” So +25

I have good EC’s. Probably nothing crazy but +7

I added alot of LOR’s, one of them has to be strong +5

White +0

Male -2

OOS -10

Community college transfer -3

Definitely not Sasha Obama +0

That’s 119. Between likely and admitted

I don’t wanna sound pretentious and act like I’m getting in. I have no idea what that google doc is and I’m honestly pretty nervous as well. It says Fall is more competitive than Spring so Winter is probably the least competitive sooooooo
