Hi,
I'm currently in the last trimester of my junior year. I have a GPA of 3.314 and I'm ranked 99 out of a class of 318. I know this sounds pretty average for Michigan, but I've taken some advanced classes like AP Chemistry, AP Government, AP World History, AP Prep English, and PLTW Engineering. Also, I'm doing a week long "Women in Engineering" program this summer at a nearby university. I don't have any volunteer hours or extracurriculars, but I guess this is sort of where my question comes in. If I manage to pull my GPA up, do a ton volunteer work and work in some extra curriculars between now and the time I graduate, is there any possibility of me being able to get into UofM?

Well, the 3.314 is close to the bottom spectrum they look for, but they factor in a difficult class schedule into their desicion. Later this year, I’m guessing you’ll have a better idea where your ACT/SAT scores sit, which in turn should give you a better idea on your options. You should start volunteering and getting involded with your school as soon as possible. (These also might net you some well written letters of recommendation which will also help)

On top of that, it could come down to the quality of essay you write on your application.

Getting into any college can be a challange, but it definetely is a culmination of several factors and with any luck you can form a good combination of key factors if you start buffing up your weak areas now.

what do you do in your spare time? at home and stuff? hobby?
