University of Minnesota Waitlist

Hey, I got waitlisted at the U of M back in March and I’ve called and sent in a LOCO and I still haven’t heard much. Are the chances of me getting in off the waitlist decent? My ACT score wasn’t all that but I managed with a 3.4ish but there were extenuating circumstances my freshman and junior year in which it was hard for me. At the same time I’ve helped the community a whole lot. Im a first generation with cousins who attended the U.

Which college?

Are you an in-state or out-of-state applicant? I am from Wisconsin and was waitlisted March 26th. I haven’t heard anything back but it seems like they are accepting in-state people first.

I’m in-state doesn’t seem like I’ll get accepted with so many people already coming off the waitlist.

I am also in state with the CEHD and I’m still on the waitlist. With a lot of people getting off I also feel like I’m not getting in.

@Jay101 I made a phone appointment with Tali Levin, shes the admissions counselor for CEHD. I asked her standard questions about the waitlist and i think it helped me get off.

Yeah I got off the waitlist too. I think the phone call helped me as well!

Congrats!!! Still no word for me sadly

Thanks! But don’t lose hope yet. You still have chance up until June 15. I feel like they’re going to try to accept most of the waitlisted people this year.

What makes you say that?

Because the incoming freshman class is at high risk of not having enough students this year. International students may not be able to travel, OOS are thinking more about staying close to home, gap years are all the talk right now…

That’s actually interesting, I even appealed and nothing & talking with some of the admissions counselors pretty much suggested to not bank on it.

I got an update and was hoping that I was accepted, but I got declined.

@tyler303 in state?

@airway1 yeah I’m in state

@Tyler303 weird today there was an article which states they took 1700 off the waitlist… did you call them? Could be your major is full? Give them a call and ask

@airway1 Do you think I’d have a chance still? I’m honestly pretty sad about not getting into my dream college.

I got declined today too, I’m sad. I sent a email asking if I could be considered as a general studies major but I don’t think they’ll let me do that :frowning:

I am surprised it could be a competitive major? Son was waitlisted last year for engineering while his friend who had a lower gpa got in undeclared
