I applied to the University of Minnesota in early August, and sent in a supplemental application in September for the freshman nursing guarantee program. I check the tracker everyday, and still haven’t heard back. I know that I should get my decision by January 31st, but do they accept this late still? Also, since I haven’t even been deferred yet, does that mean I’m going to get rejected?
I have heard from other people on this website that we will all hear back by Wednesday and that they will only be giving accept/defer to EA students. I don’t know if this is true but I hope it helps! I’m in the same boat(minus nursing guarantee) so fingers crossed!
What’s an EA student?? Also thanks for your response!
EA means Early Applicant. If you applied before 11/1 you are an early applicant.
Will UMN still send out decisions between now and Wednesday?
I’m in the exact same boat. Other page said they might just be accepting and deferring first round-- but for the freshmen nursing guarantee I’m not sure what’s going to happen.
i think they will send out decisions till the 24 th for early applicants

What are the possible admission decisions that an applicant could receive?
By the end of January, students who submit a complete application by the November 1 first deadline will receive one of the following decisions:
Admit: The student has been admitted to the University of Minnesota.
Defer: The admissions committee has completed a holistic review of the application but has not yet made a final decision. Deferred applications will be reviewed a second time, taking into consideration the number of spaces available in the freshman class and competitiveness of the entire pool of applicants who met the January 1 application deadline. By March 31, deferred applicants will receive either an admit, waitlist, or deny decision. Frequently asked questions about defer decisions.
Deny: We are not able to offer freshman admission. Students who are denied admission are encouraged to apply for transfer admission for a future semester. Transfer admission is also competitive so it is important that students achieve a strong academic record at another college or university. Frequently asked questions about deny decisions.
By the end of March, students who submit a complete application by the January 1 second deadline will receive one of the following decisions:
Admit: The student has been admitted to the University of Minnesota.
Waitlist: The student’s application has been placed on a waitlist. Although we have determined that the applicant is academically prepared to succeed at the University of Minnesota, we must make certain that we do not exceed the number of spaces available in each of the freshman-admitting colleges. Waitlisted applicants will receive an update on the status of their applications by April 15. If we determine that spaces remain available, the overall strongest applicants will be admitted from the waitlist. Frequently asked questions about waitlist decisions.

@jkirsy did you get in or still waiting?
@mom0126 Unfortunately, still waiting! Submitted my app early-mid October with lower-ish stats into CLA so that’s probably the hold up. Expecting to be denied outright or deferred but we’ll see!
@jkirsy. I’m still waiting here too for my D but hang in there. There is still hope.
Hey! Has anyone received a decision recently?
We have not, and the chatter about decisions seems to be quiet. May be some time yet.
This thread hasn’t been as active recently and I realize I’m joining the conversation a bit late, but I figured I’d put my two cents in as someone who also applied early. I was accepted to the Twin Cities campus’ College of Biological Sciences and I was able to see the decision online by Jan. 31st and got a packet in the mail about a week later.
But you are aiming for UW. LOL. Good luck whichever you choose.
Haven’t checked this thread in awhile, but I ended up getting deferred. Still haven’t gotten a regular applicant decision yet either. Has anyone who was also deferred gotten accepted, waitlisted, or denied yet?
My dd is still waiting to hear, she applied priority but was deferred. We are still waiting. I just checked today again.
applied RD and i got my answer 3 days ago so they must be in the process of sending out answers now
We have not heard yet. Still deferred.
@Disha. Was the response positive? Which college?
