University of Missouri-Columbia vs Truman State Pre med

I’m trying to decide between the two for pre med. I’ve heard that Truma State has a good pre med program and good academics in general, but Mizzou has an good pre med program as well. However, I could get a free ride to Truman and may be useful if I want to go to med school. The things is the social setting isn’t for me. I rather go to a college that has somewhat of an exciting campus life. Basically I’m asking if Truman is worth the free tuition. I want to go to to a college that is cheap but still has a good pre med program.

Have you been admitted to both?
I think Truman State would offer a more academically-oriented environment that may make it easier for you to focus on med school preparation.
Go spend an overnight to see if it’s a good “fit”.

Are you an incoming frosh?

What are your stats?

what merit would you get from Mizzou?

I haven’t applied yet. I’m going to college in the fall of 2016.
31 ACT
4.3 Weighted GPA
If I went to Mizzou I would recieve a merit scholarship of $6,500 plus the Bright Flight Scholarship. Also, I’m considering going to the Honors College if I went to Mizzou.

So, from your post, it sounds like you want the rah rah school? I’m guessing that Truman is more quiet?

When students ask if a school is ‘worth it,’ they put responders in the position of having to guess what the family’s financial situation and values are (because most reputable schools do a decent job of preparing students who are premed). We can’t answer for your family. We usually end up responding based on our own financial positions and our own values, which really aren’t relevant here. The only other useful information is that med schools don’t care where you go and medical education is very expensive.

It’s worth it to go somewhere more expensive if your family can afford it and wants to spend their money that way.

What are your parents saying about how much they’ll pay?

Are you going to retest?
