University of Nevada - Reno

I recieved information in the mail about the university of Nevada Reno and since i've been interested in the school and I just want all the info anybody could give me on the school and surrounding areas ? How's the job market ? Is the economy financialy stable ? I need all the information I can get before Thursday because I'm thinking abouT sending my ACT scores there and applying all information is appreciated thanks.

Are you instate for UN? IF not, would you want to pay the out of state costs to go there?

What is your home state?

How much will your parents spend each year for your education?

No I’m from New York but I want to explore and see what the world has to offer. I don’t really have a limit kn my education I just want to get an education that’s going to better me in the end and have fun while I’m doing ith

UNR is a good place to look if you’re interested in geology or earth science. Beyond that, it isn’t bad but isn’t all that special either. Nevada has been hit pretty hard by the recession, but I’m not sure how the universities have been impacted. The state is heavily reliant on gambling/tourism, defense/military, and resource development.

If you’re interested in the Mountain West, you might also want to check out some of the following:

 • U Utah
 • U Arizona
 • Arizona State
 • U Wyoming

What do you want to study?

Alright thanks. I want to go for business

^ For business, I’d look at the following in the Mt. West:

ASU

U Utah

CU Boulder

Not sure what you wrote there. Are you saying that you don’t have a budget limit and your parents will pay whatever it costs?

Alright thanks where are those schools located ?

@mom2collegekids yeah that’s what I meant sorry for the weird writing that’s how obtype on aim.

ASU = Tempe, AZ (part of the Phoenix metro area)
U Utah = Salt Lake City, UT
CU Boulder = Boulder, CO

Google will help you find the school websites where you can do more research. All three of those have good business schools, but the environments are very different.

Are you interested in any other areas of the country? Could you give us your GPA / test scores?

My gpa is 4.0 and I haven’t taken my tests yet I’ll be taking the ACT Saturday and yes I’m interested in all areas of the country as long as I’d be able to find a job and support myself

You should also look at the University of Alabama. <a href=“Page Not Found | The University of Alabama”>Page Not Found | The University of Alabama;

Lots of jobs in the state.

School is gorgeous, the Business school is very good. See link below.

[The Culverhouse College of Commerce and Business Administration](http://www.cba.ua.edu/)

I’m not really interested into going into a state that southern I’m more interested in the east coast such as CT, PA, NY, NJ, VA, WV, GA, DE, MD, OH, CA or maybe even Hawaii.

LOL…Bama isn’t that “southern” in feel at all. 30% of students are from out of state, and many of the instate students are the children of transplants. You should visit; you’d be very surprised.

We’re Calif natives and I have 2 kids at Bama.

I would not recommend going to school in Nevada. The state has a terrible educational system and your peers would, for the most part, be a disappointment. I am sorry to have to say this, but neither UNLV or UNR are worth a look. I realize some people who happen to live in NV have to attend these schools due to financial constraints (lots of commuters), but many opt into some of the Arizona schools that offer in-state tuition to NV residents.
I have close friends (adults) who attended UN-Reno and they are very bright but have terrible writing/vocabulary skills. Their kids attended one of the better high schools in the Las Vegas area and they can barely construct a sentence. They are now graduates of UNLV and UN-Reno.
It’s just one of those sad facts- Nevada eduation sucks.

Lol oh okay I’ll look it over a little more and see what I think.

I don’t know if you still have an interest in UNR, but maybe you’d like to consider their honors program. I’m a Reno resident. Nevada education isn’t well funded, but education is what you make of it. Students in the honors program get an education that is comparable to many good schools.
