Hi - My S got into University of New England with some great merit money. We have visited the school and met the new President but are wondering if there are any possible prospective UNE students out there on this blog? Anyone know of the reputation outside of New England? They have the only med/dental school in Maine and are strong in the medical sciences (PT, OT, Nursing, DO etc) but my S wondering if anyone knows more about the school - he has about 5 other choices to pick from but UNE is in the running. Thanks
FWIW I have a relative who chose UNE over Clemson, UNH, Simmons, Northeastern and Quinnipiac. She originally wanted to be a physical therapist but quickly switched to biology/premed. After UNE she went to dental school at Tufts. She did extremely well at Tufts, and graduated near the top of her class.
In addition, my neighbor’s son is a sophomore there, majoring in environmental studies. He loves it.
@apple23 - thanks so much. That sounds a lot like the list of schools my S has been accepted/applied to as well! Most of the people we know who went there are in their 30s-50s and are very successful DOs, MDs and OTs so its good to hear it is continuing with the next generations(s). They do have a great partnership with Tufts which we were told is only going to grow in the future (we were able to do a meet and greet with UNE’s new president and some of his staff/faculty).
Thank you!
