The Selection Committee has carefully reviewed your application for admission to the University of Pennsylvania’s Class of 2015, and although we are unable to offer you admission at this time, you have been placed on our Waiting List.

This year a record number of candidates applied for 2,400 places in the freshman class. Among them were a small number of individuals like yourself who presented an interesting personal profile and could make a contribution to the University community, and yet could not be included in the class at this time. Please use the Online Reply link in the left column before May 1st indicating if you wish to remain on the Waiting List.

Although it is not possible to predict whether an offer of admission will become available, last year Penn did admit approximately 100 students from the Waiting List. You should, however, secure a place at another institution prior to the May 1 reply date.

On behalf of the admissions staff, I want to thank you for your patience and continued interest in the University of Pennsylvania.

Stats will come shortly.

General Comments: I’M SO RELIEVED. I was crying my eyes out before I even checked. THANK YOU, PENN!

@antidramaqueen: your son should seriously consider both Pomona and Penn over Tufts - at the very least, both offer a more talented student body. His love for Tufts and Somerville, however deeply he feels that now, will fade or change as he progresses through college. I urge him to re-visit Penn at the very least and see how he feels.

@IvyLeaguer11: Nah, if he is representative of the Tufts student body, he (we) cannot imagine a more talented student body. He loves the foreign language emphasis and international focus, the students he knows there, Boston, access to full professors teaching classes, etc. We think he chose well. Pomona and Brown were tied for second, so nice that he had a clear first.

He felt the vibe kind of whiny and spoiled at Penn and too pre-professional. This is a kid who thinks out of the box.

Enjoy Penn!

Decision: Waitlisted

I’ll probably going to Brown, but I really liked Penn as well. Congrats to all those accepted! :)
