THAT’S it. For some reason, that doesn’t show up when an advanced search of the DP Archive is done with “waitlist” (and some other relevant terms) in the headline field. But I knew that I had read that (hence my first post above that not more than 50 were admitted from last year’s waiting list).

Thanks!

@45 percenter I feel honored, it is usually you with the correct numbers including their source at hand!

@Sophie1295 I guess we did L-) Hopefully this will end well for the both of us. @SkyG96 Where did you get that information?Don’t get my hopes up for nothing.

I try my best, but there’s always room for more members of the Truth Squad! :)

Is an acceptance through the waitlist process completely random? As in, does a computer just pick a random applicant to be accepted once a spot opens up or do the admissions counselors look through all of the applicants again to decide who gets the open spot?

No the committee meets again and then decides. But the wait list is not ranked.
The reason it’s not random is that they see where they are falling short of students -Econ, engineering etc. Maybe their quota of a certain ethnicity or nationality is unfulfilled etc etc

Any word on what the section about “any counselors, teachers or other educators who have positively influenced your growth as a student and person” means? I’m hesitant to submit names and contact info without knowing.

^ oops I already mentioned all that! I wonder why they have that option!

How hopeless is a Wharton Waitlist

Penn accepted fewer students this year compared to last because they project a higher yield. Other very selective colleges have done likewise. Anecdotally the number of multiple offers from very selective colleges that even the most qualified candidates receive has been on the decline. It’s quite possible that no one will get off the waiting list.

^ Not to mention that Penn accepted 105 more applicants during the ED round this year than last year (and significantly more than it ever has before), so that there are fewer RD spaces to fill. Even if you assume the SAME RD yield as last year–46%–that alone would lead to about 228 fewer RD acceptances this year.

Have you guys accepted your wait list spot yet? Also, does anyone have any new info on how large the list is?

I was also wailisted! Is there anything we can do to show further interest?

What is the with the ‘please list any influential individuals’ optional part? Anybody have any clue?

Humm not sure

Is anyone on the wait list for nursing?

Did anyone send in a letter of continued interest and if so did you send it to your regional officer or the admissions office?

@teampat I am on the wait list for nursing as well
