Did anyone who wasn’t a nursing applicant get a likely letter this year?
Wait that’s weird…I called the admissions office three hours ago, and I was informed that no likely letters would be sent out this year…
My experience with admissions offices in many different colleges is that it’s entirely possible to get different answers from different people in the same admissions office. This can be very frustrating.
I heard that only the nursing school sends them out and i got an email telling me to check the portal and then it said “Pending your continued academic success and good standing, when we announce decisions on March 30, 2017, it is likely that you will be admitted to Penn’s 265th class for study in the School of Nursing.” and other stuff. I got my email at 5:08
@tonda444 can u post ur stats?

What shall be the latest date by which I could send an important update. I know, that by now most of the decisions have been finalised, but it is something that will greatly help my application and may compel them to re review my application. Please help!!!
@intellectboy Just send it ASAP. You have nothing to lose.
Any other nursing applicants get likely letters?
I’m applying for biomed… should I send an update if I got a cool biomed related internship?
@CuriousBobby Why not? It only helps.
I remember once hearing the rule of thumb that admissions counselors are looking for reasons to admit students, not reasons to not admit them. I truly believe they will not hold anything against a student for sending an update and agree, it can only help. Worse case scenario they just don’t consider it at all. Unless you are really obnoxious, they are not going to hold it against you if you send updates. You are letting them know how much you want to go there. When in doubt, send it. That’s my opinion.
@collegemomjam, I was on the fence on whether I should send my update for acceptance to the national youth orchestra…thanks for the pep talk!
@Ceciliaagnes that’s great! They should absolutely know about your wonderful accomplishment! Congrats!
@collegemomjam is exactly right. It might help you, and won’t hurt you. I don’t think it will ever have a negative effect unless you are writing to tell them you are now in prison for attacking a college or something crazy like that.
Hi longtime lurker here
My Penn Portal page says that it hasn’t received my Mid-Year report yet even though my counselor sent it in January.
Does it say that the Mid-Year report has been received on your portal pages?
@koreanswede yup, it says mine has been received.
Drop em an email
Got an email from Penn today “strong candidate…”
@Tothelimit do mind posting the email?
@Tothelimit Congratulations! What school/program did you apply to?
