Is it okay to write "UPenn" in the essay instead of saying "university of Pennsylvania" every time? The latter gets pretty tedious and repetitive after a while. Any advice/thoughts?

Thanks!

I said Penn. It was even in the essay prompt, and short citing seemed advantageous because it allowed me to be concise, crisp, and under the word limit.

No one calls it The University of Pennsylvania, outsiders call it UPenn, people who know what they’re talking about call it Penn.

^ Indeed, those truly familiar with the school call it Penn, and not UPenn.

I called the university “Penn” in my essay.

Call it Penn.

Penn! Fosho

I wanted to be formal, so I said University of Pennsylvania.

I often just said the University, but otherwise if I had to shorten it. Definitely Penn. :D

I said The University of Pennsylvania the first time I mentioned it but after that, I just called it Penn.

I always amazes me how many times people think I’m referring to Penn State when I say “Penn.” Haha. It’s obvious who knows the school and who isn’t very familiar with it at all. It’s like second nature to me to call it Penn because I grew up knowing the campus.
