University of Pittsburgh-Class of 2019 Acceptance

Does it matter at all how early or late we send in the Tuition Deposit? I know it’s due by May 1st but I was just wondering if there are any advantages to sending it in early.

@karategirl11, Pitt will begin to send out housing information in February. These packets will only go to students who have already paid their deposit and will continue to be mailed out to new students as they pay their deposits. @Chelsey123, that is the real benefit to paying your deposit before May 1st, you will start to get information you need to get the ball rolling on housing, registering for classes, and other important things.

Do you have priority in your housing choice if you send deposit early?

I believe the only advantage is to sign up for an earlier PittStart session where you register for classes

@SpaceCoastMom No priority housing. See below…

http://www.pc.pitt.edu/housing/process.php

@spacecoastmom, Housing is not on a first come first served basis. Panther Central collects housing applications and runs a mass allocation in June.

If I was applying to live in the engineering LLC would there be an advantage to sending in the housing applicaton sooner? Does this fill up on a first come first serve basis?

@Karategirl11‌, I don’t think so. As I said before, housing is not allocated on a first come, first served basis. You’ll just need to make sure you send your housing application in before a specific deadline (it’s not posted yet, but last year it was in mid-May). More info here: http://www.studentaffairs.pitt.edu/reslife/llc/freshman

Admissions does not handle the housing process, so you should contact Residence Life with any further detailed questions about the LLCs: 412-648-1200 or reslife@pitt.edu.

Best of luck!

Son got acceptance video email today; waiting for official letter and financial details etc, OOS, NY, SAT 2210 (750 math, 750 cr, 710 writing) 31 act(only took once), gpa 93.5 weighted. Submitted Dec 29, decision received Jan 12.

I was accepted December 4th and my scholarship letter was postmarked December 22nd. My honors college acceptance came somewhere in between. There were issues on the Chancellor’s scholarship application though so I still haven’t applied for that.

Accepted Today! My app was processed on monday so it only took a week! Gpa: 3.3ish(only 1 a.p. = calc AB) ACT 31

Hello,

I was accepted back in November to the Dietrich School for Biology. If at some point I wished to minor in Computer Science, would I be able to do that even though I wasn’t accepted to Swanson?

Thanks for your time!

I thought that computer science was in the Dietrich school as opposed to computer engineering which is in Swandon?

@SoccerDude0305‌, The link mommdc posted will be helpful. CS is in the Dietrich School. And to change your major, you will simply need to speak with your academic advisor and they can assist you.

For the people who got accepted, how long did it take for your decision to come?

Application submitted Dec 29, received acceptance via email Jan 12 (congratulations video) letter in mail a few days to a week later.

Still waiting to see if S is offered any aid.

@hailtopitt1787 thank you for your tremendous help and quick responses to all CC inquiries. My daughter completed her chancellor’s application a few weeks ago. We are thinking of a return visit to a few schools over February break to help her make her final decision, but would prefer to schedule only one more visit to each school. Any chance interview invites/no thank yous will go out before then? That would help with scheduling. Also, a few people have posted that sometimes partial scholarships get bumped to full tuition after chancellor’s applications. Seems like that is an unusual event. Is that perception correct? Thank you again for your invaluable help.

I applied to Pitt at the end of August and I was asked to send first semester grades and senior SAT scores. I applied to bioengineering at the Swanson School of Engineering.
My stats:
3.5 unweighted gpa
1810 SAT score (630 CR 620 M 560 W)
Many extracurricular activities and sports
7 Honors Classes and one AP

How do I stack up and what are my chances of getting in??
@hailtopitt1787

@curious2015, I am always happy to help! The Chancellor’s Scholarship interviews typically happen at the end of February/beginning of March. While I do not know the exact timing of the letters, you can expect to get something in early to mid-February at the latest, I would think. As for bumping up scholarships after chancellors applications, it is something that would be done at the discretion of the committee, so I am not quite sure about how often it happens. I am sorry I can’t tell you more on that front, but I am sure you will hear about whether you have been selected for interview and other information soon! Best of luck!

@Vinced2522‌, since I am not part of the admissions committee, I am not really qualified to chance you for admission. But if you’ve sent your grades in and all is well with your application, you should hear back soon! Best of luck!
