University of Pittsburgh Class of 2022

Did anyone who received an acceptance notice (congratulations by the way!) receive an email shortly before confirming their Pitt ID number? My daughter applied 8/14 to Dietrich and received the initial email confirming her application which included her ID number but yesterday received a “Your Pitt ID number - keep this handy” message. Wondering if this means her app is under review. I’m probably anxious and overthinking it but Pitt’s her first choice so I am on pins and needles like everyone else. My son is a sophomore at Pitt and absolutely loves it there! Good luck to everyone!

Pghgrl - my D applied to Dietrich on 8/14 and the mobile app says “no pending applications” but when we check status on the my.pitt.com website it says “application complete”…since she received Pitt ID number via email, we are comfortable that her app is being looked at & that the mobile app just isn’t showing that.

Good Luck! That sounds promising. I don’t think she received an email yet, keeping my fingers crossed. Pitt has been her dream school since middle school. Keeping fingers crossed

@m2msoccer My S applied 8/31 and we have the same status on the mobile app/my pitt.edu and received the “keep Pitt ID number handy” email yesterday too. Good luck to you! I think I am more anxious than my S!

Every one who applies receives a Pitt ID number, it is used to contact admissions faster so they don’t have to go looking for your application.

Last night my pitt mobile app changed and now I have the option to push the accept/deny buttons under the admissions tab. I still haven’t received an official email. Do these buttons mean that I’m accepted?

Does it still say “no pending applications” when you click on the accept/deny buttons?

My D has not received a PItt ID number. I am thinking it is different from the application number on the Pitt passport portal.

Pghgrl - my D got a Pitt ID number shortly after she applied & then got it again yesterday via email. It is definitely different than the application number.

nocontest - I know everyone gets the ID number, I just didn’t know since she got it again yesterday if that means they’re reviewing her app. Guess it doesn’t really matter just overly anxious with mama nerves. lol

@ellaschrand, Please contact our office to discuss this question. They will need to take a look at your account and get some information from you in order to assist. We will be happy to speak with you: 412-624-7488.

@pghgirl, @hopetobeapittmom, and others -

You can disregard the “no applications pending” message. PSMobile does not track application status. The place to check on whether or not your application is complete is my.pitt.edu (and you should have received information about how to log in there shortly after applying).

Official notification of the admissions decision will not be in my.pitt.edu, it comes to you via email and/or letter. We just started sending decisions this week, so if you have not heard yet, it’s definitely not something to worry about! We are working on getting decisions out the door as quickly as we can.

Once an admissions decision is made, you will get information about how to utilize PSMobile. Until then, keep an eye on the inbox and mailbox for an official email/letter from us!

Best of luck,
A Pitt Admissions Staffer

H2P - thanks for the info, now I know to stop stalking the my.pitt.edu site! Question, why does the application only ask if you have alumni in the family & not currently attending family members? I know students need to get in on their own merit but not sure why it would ask about one and not the other…

Thank you to @hailtopitt1787 … the whole office has been wonderful during this process. I am going to sit back and patiently wait

@m2msoccer my daughter received that email about the ID yesterday as well.

@Benji3025 Thank you for the great info on Honors College. I somehow missed that on their website, much appreciated! My head is spinning keeping up with the various colleges apps etc. Good luck to all!!

@hailtopitt1787 For some reason my sons profile in the Pitt portal doesn’t have any email address listed and he is not able to edit it either. He did receive emails from PItt with his userid and password. Is there another way to update this ? Thanks for your help.

My kid got email video acceptance 9/13 with application submitted 8/21 if that helps. No letter, snail mail correspondence yet

I sent in my application about a month ago (mid-August) but I haven’t received anything yet. Hopefully, I’ll get a decision email soon! @MPT3D

@Eagle70, The fastest way to update his email address would probably be to contact our office: 412-624-7488 or oafa@pitt.edu.

I just applied yesterday, and my status application says “Paid”. What should I look for next so I know my application has been received?
