My son applied 8/3 and is now in committee review. He applied to the School of Business Admin.
I am not sure of the entire process, but I believe if the GPA and SAT/ACT scores are high enough (or too low) then the applicant will get auto decisioned (Approved/Declined) without any review from the committee In my case, my son has the grades,(5.21 weighted GPA) AP and honors courses (A’s and B’s) but his SAT scores totaled 1180, so I believe he wasn’t auto decisioned and put into Committee Review. Again, I am not sure if this is how Pitt does it, but it’s my reasoning as to why it’s taking so long.
I just hope the fact that his father and myself both went to Pitt will be that extra push he needs
@hailtopitt1787 … can you confirm if I am on the right track of thinking? Better yet, can you just tell me if my kid got in lol just kidding
We do try to review applications close to the order they were received, but some applications take longer to review than others for a variety of reasons. Our Committee really tries to find a good balance between thoroughness and efficiency - ensuring everyone gets a fair and quick review.
If you have not heard yet, you shouldn’t worry. We only just started sending out decisions this week, so there is still a lot of time. If you applied in August, you should be hearing back from the Admissions Committee soon. We are trying to get decisions out the door as quickly as we can. Best of luck to you all!
@hopetobeapittmom Thanks for the info! Curious, how do you know your son is in committee review? I’m thinking my D is in similar position (1290 SAT, 99.5 wgpa ) but don’t see anything on portal about her app being under review. I hope things go well for your son (hey, two alumni parents should help in my opinion)…similarly, I am hoping that since we are already paying for one Pitt student, that will help give my D any little extra push she may need. LOL
@m2msoccer…it won’t say. I actually sent OAFA an email to make sure that they had his email on his app profile because I didn’t see it anywhere on the PS mobile app nor the my.pitt.edu app.(There was a post about this earlier and the Pitt admin here said to call or email, so I did ) His admissions counselor emailed me back stating that they had his email on file and that he was in review, no decision yet. I have become bordeline obsessed with this waiting game.
I know people like to see stats of accepted students, sorry didn’t post. I want to wish everyone waiting best of luck, I understand the nerves. Sending lots of virtual HUGS!

@m2msoccer Best of luck to your daughter as well! My stats are pretty good but they aren’t as high as some of the others I’ve seen here, so hopefully, I am in the same boat as her.
Here are some of my D’s stats as well if it helps anyone:

My D mobile app before said no pending applications but now it changed to show the fall term and gives a separate accept or decline button. Did others that were accepted see this. This is new on her app. Do you think it means she is in?!!! So excited!!!
@Pghgrl my D’s mobile app just did the same thing this afternoon! Earlier today it said “no pending application” but now it has the accept and decline buttons. She hasn’t received any emails yet so I don’t want to get her hopes up but fingers are crossed!
Ok…I’ve been stalking for months without commenting and biting my nails to the quick this week with all the puzzle pieces not fitting together…so I’m posting son’s acceptance via email this afternoon with some details to help add to the mix.
9/13 - Rec’d Pitt personal ID email early am. Read other’s posts about mobile app showing accept/decline buttons. Downloaded app but only saw something like…“no pending applications”. That notice on app showed most of the day until late afternoon when it switched to the accept/decline buttons.
9/15 (today) - Son rec’d email around 3 pm with the video link acceptance.
School of Nursing
OOS - Big gulp at cost of OOS tuition!
ACT - 29
GPA - 4.26W, 4.11UW
AP’s - 4 AP, 1 Dual Enrollment/AP combo, misc. honors. All of those are math/science.
Misc. - Captain of crew team, EMT, NHS
I don’t know whether this discussion board has been a curse or a blessing for me this week in terms of obsessing, but I appreciate everyone posting all the little info nuggets. Now, I have to reconcile my son’s top choice being my alma mater’s rival (sorry for the football defeat last weekend…but Saquon Barkley is a beast)! Good luck to all!
My son applied on Wednesday (two days ago). We downloaded the mobile app today and we see the accept/decline button. I can’t imagine that a decision was made on his application that quickly, so I’m not sure that is a good indicator of acceptance. Glad to see it was for all of you!
If the top of the page says “Accept/Decline Admissions” above the accept and decline buttons on the mobile app, I do think it’s indicative of an acceptance @finnb. I’m curious if they already have your son’s test scores because that does seem quick. I just can’t imagine a student would be able to get to that page on the mobile app if they weren’t going to be accepted. You have to be accepted to be able to accept or decline the offer…
I got the accept / decline button too! When I called someone from pitt about it, they checked my account and told me to expect some good news coming my way in the mail!!
Actually, I stand corrected…there is an “accept/decline admissions” tab but when I click on it it says “you do not have any pending applications at this time”
