University of Pittsburgh Class of 2022

@hailtopitt1787 , my daughter is applying to A&S school in a couple of days. She has 4.65 weighted GPA and 1520 in SAT. She is contemplating taking the Oct SAT to increase the probability of getting good merit scholarships. If she did so, will the admission committee wait until receiving the results of Oct SAT or will they consider giving admission based on her current scores? Thank you for your anticipated response.

On her application she should be able to indicate that she plans to take the SAT again in October.

@catsbigdreams, We do take demonstrated interest into account in our holistic review. Tours/campus visits are part of that!

@bsms2018, She can go ahead and apply and just let us know that she is also planning to send us October SAT scores. If the Admissions Committee determines that they need more information before making a decision, they will see that she is sending those scores and wait to see them. The Scholarship Committee does not start meeting until October. They would be able to see that she has new scores coming, as well. Hope that helps!

@hailtopitt1787 i do not recall the application asking about campus tours. Does PItt have that information on record for applicants that did tour? Thank you

@Thewaiting4ever, Yes, if you visit campus for an admissions tour or event (information session, tour with a Pitt Pathdfinder, Blue & Gold Days, etc.) we will have record of it.

The app flipped last night to give the Accept/Decline buttons - hopefully that is good news and an email will come soon!

The application went in on Sep. 10.

Out of state - 31 ACT, 3.55 GPA with mainly honors and AP courses.

Great news to share - my D got 2 pieces of important looking mail today, so I was able to meet her at the high school for her to open them. 1 was a letter about the Honors College. The other was an invitation to apply for the GAP Physician Assistant interview!! Very exciting.

@Winky1 That’s amazing congrats to your D!!

Just so we all know that letters are coming! Pitt seems to be very efficient. I am impressed with the dissemination of information.

Thank you @kwtgtc. She’s very excited.

@Winky1 yes, completely agree. They are very efficient. We visited around 10 universities and Pitt was the best of all. They treated the visitors as their guests and you felt so welcome. Hail2pitt!!!

@mommdc, yes, I was accepted to Swanson College of Engineering this week

@Winky1, how many days from email acceptance until honors college letter?

@Winky1 I totally agree, Pitt was by far the most accommodating and personal of the 16 colleges and universities we visited with my DD18. Especially considering they are a very large University! Congratulations on GAP and Honors letter. I know my D is anxiously awaiting the official Honors notification. I’m hoping that they are as efficient with Merit awards :D.

Congrats @finnb on your acceptance. I’ve been checking to see if you heard, your stats are amazing it’s no surprise but so good to see the official notification :).

@finnb , she got her email last Thursday, and she received her honors letter today. So 1 week.

Wow @winky1 that was speedy. No letter in our mail today about Honors but I suppose it’s nothing to fret over since it was mentioned in her acceptance letter. Does anyone know if Honors kids are guaranteed honors housing or if they are first come first serve, lottery etc? Pitt is my D’s top choice at the moment, hinging on some merit. Fingers and toes crossed, but we have a bit of a wait.

Starting to think I got rejected. Psmobile still says “no applications pending”. Applied September 6th to nursing. Expecting a rejection, which I honestly feel okay about now, but I’m keeping a little hope!
If I don’t get in, it’s just not meant to be

My D applied Aug 31 .“No applications Pending” message still .I am still keeping hope…Called today and they said it is under review. Does all applications go thru under review ?

@hailtopitt1787 , my D is going to apply for a GAP interview for Physician Assistant. She’s also going to be applying for the Stamps and Nordenberg Scholarship via the 1 application for both. The GAP interview application says to send 3 letters of recommendation. The Stamps/Nordenberg application has to have 1 letter of recommendation. Would it be ok for one of her recommenders to be sending a letter for both of these applications? My concern is that either entity will have the information from the other and it’ll be redundant. ???
