Hi @Winky1 ! Great to see you again! Fingers crossed for good Pitt news for your D and all of our CC friends!
@kayak24, I think the SRAR is in place of the SRAR, so I don’t think you need to complete it if sending a transcript.
Daughter received $25K/year. OOS. I have posted stats earlier.
has any one else received scholarship notification?.
@thishappens amazing!!! Congratulations. Absolutely nothing here yet.
Also @thishappens Dietrich A&S student? Also did you receive it via a letter? Final nosey question…was this a named scholarship such as Prestige etc or was it a merit package. Once again very excited for your Daughter. Her stats are excellent.
@AmyBeth68 , thank you. yes, we have received it this afternoon via snail mail. it is regular envelope (tri-folded letter).
No name to scholarship. the letter says “Based on your outstanding academic record…, very few can be awarded this academic honor”…probably standard/boiler-plate email to all getting the scholarship award.
Yes, Dietrich A&S, Chemistry, pre-med. Applied to Med GAP on 10/31. Now wait begins for GAP interview selection decision.
@thishappens … congrats to your daughter!!!
@thishappens I’m so thrilled for your daughter…she definitely earned it! My D has lower stats 34 ACT, 4.55 weighted, 4.0 unweighted. I’m praying her short answer essays help. We need some love. But am so so excited to hear kids getting acceptances and merit scholarships. Is this her top choice or is she waiting on others? I think my D18 would sign on the dotted line if she got the merit aid…we loved Pitt. <3
@cagphd, thank you.
@AmyBeth68 , this is daughter’s one of top choice schools. University of Minnesota Twin Cities is another top choice school. She is accepted to UMTC on 10/21, waiting on possible scholarship details. in process of applying to couple of combined BA (BS)/MD programs other than GAP.
Your daughter has equally amazing stats; I am sure she will be awarded great scholarship at U Pitt.
That’s awesome…University of Minnesota TC is a great school, my daughter applied there under the wire last week. Excellent reputation and a beautiful city :). Thank you for the encouragement, we’re trying to be patient here.
Congratulations to your D, @thishappens ! Fabulous. Really hoping for great things for you, @AmyBeth68 as well as for others. Very exciting to know the merit has started!
@thishappens What an awesome merit award! Now the nail biting begin as my daughter waits to hear if she will receive any merit. fingers crossed
Just submitted application, hopefully my late submission doesn’t affect admissions or scholarhsip. I would be ecstatic for 25k scholarship (although I only had a 34 ACT). Also, I submitted my short answer questions before I submitted my application but my confirmation email was encouraging me to complete the SRAQ(even if I already did), is this normal?
PA friends,
Does anyone know if I have to list Pitt first on the FAFSA in order to be eligible for state aid? I have read confusing info on this. Thank you.
you know, @kayak24, it is confusing. I always make it a habit of listing a PA school first, just in case that’s the way it works out
Hi, quick question: will Pitt send you something saying that I will be considered for merit scholarships/aid or will they just give me money and then tell me that I got merit aid?
@RUPITT my daughter was notified in her acceptance letter that she would be considered for merit. She got her acceptance on 9/13 but no merit awarded yet
@Winky1 , @DfwMomof2 , Thank you. May merit gods rain all the scholarship money for all kids.
@TheBurbs , acceptance letter will state whether a student being considered for merit scholarships.
Has anyone gotten (or heard of someone they know getting) full tuition scholarship or Chancellor’s nomination at this point?
my friend’s son (OOS ) received 25k/year scholarship, biomedical engineering (35 ACT, 1520 SAT, 3.9 GPA).
This is an interesting merit season so far :-? Last year Pitt lead with low ball numbers if I recall. I know many many 35 ACT kids offered $15-20K/year at Pitt and they understandably got better offers elsewhere. Totally speculating here, but I’m wondering if the expected yield was much lower than they anticipated and now the dangled carrot has increased.
So far no one has chimed in with a Chancellor’s invite though. That invitation comes in the merit letter.
