your friend is only the 3rd student i’ve heard getting merit. all cc friends. 25k year, 1 full tuiton, all oos. have heard nothing about chancellors.
@Winky1 – a few have chimed in on other boards noting they have been awarded a full ride to Pitt.
Oh wow. so great. thanks for the info, carachel2
My daughter’s acceptance letter did not mention merit.
During the Facebook live feed, I asked :
If the acceptance letter arrived, but there was no mention of scholarship. Does that mean a merit scholarship is not possible?
Financial Aid stated:
No, scholarship notification is sent to recipients after admission. We send scholarship letters weekly from November-February.
Maybe there is still hope for them to throw a bone …
I received my letter informing of my full ride scholarship yesterday, I had a pretty good ACT (34) but as an instate applicant I was sure I wouldn’t be as competitive as others, I also received an invitation for GAP but don’t think I will apply (deadline is soon and I haven’t asked for rec letters) but as of right now Pitt is my top choice school H2P!!
S’s acceptance letter did not mention merit (or Honors), but he received a merit letter.

@kayak24, scroll down to PA for how to list schools on FAFSA for PA aid.
We listed the one they most likely will attend first.
@Junior010 Wow! Congratulations! Does your full ride include tuition, room, and board?
OOS, DS had SAT 1530 super score and 1510 in one sitting with 35 ACT and 3.9 UW GAP and 4.22 Weighted. Only granted 10K per year. He loved Pitt but now we may have to look at in state
@DfwMomof2 Thank you! it does + $500 book award and 2000 research/study abroad scholarship
@Junior010 congratulations that’s amazing! you give me some hope as another in-state student, haha. do you think you’re going for sure or are you going to see how other scholarships/admissions pan out?
@skipper99 thank you and good luck! I’m gonna wait on other scholarships (BU and USC) as well as apply for some top ivies (Harvard Yale and Stanford) to see if I can get any acceptances/money at those schools but Pitt is definitely a top contender especially considering I’m pre med
@Junior010 lol I have the same plan, some scholarship apps and a few ivies for the heck of it, also pre-med. this wait with college admissions though is killing me haha. good luck with wherever you decide to go, although I’m sure you won’t need luck!
@skipper99 yeah this is definitely a stressful time right now but who knows we might both end up at Pitt! Whatever happens, I’m sure everything will turn out great, may the odds ever be in our favor !
@CamPan1 oh no. Only $10 k? That makes me so nervous.
If I applied in early november vs someone in early october or even earlier, am I at a major disadvantage for scholarships?
are scholarship notifications also sent by email?
@xlhx33 – no. At least they were not last year. Last year they came in a large cream colored envelope. I can’t vouch for any of the diversity scholarship notifications though. There were some rare rumors of emails received for some of those but it seemed for the most part they were all snail mail, large cream colored envelope.
Although I wish they posted scholarship info online, it’s probably for my own good that they mail them-- can’t waste time refreshing a physical mailbox
Despite that, I had a dream last night that Pitt offered me a very small scholarship. When I asked if I might be able to get a better scholarship, they informed me that they would have offered me more but had to reduce it due to me making “inappropriate” posts on college confidential
I think I need to log off!
(I haven’t even posted much in a while, and certainly hope I haven’t posted anything “inappropriate”!)
@hailtopitt1787 - Re: scholarship notifications. Is there any electronic follow-up? Some people live in places where the mail system is not as reliable as it is in the US!
