@madismom @hailtopitt1787 thanks very much for the information! How does honors housing work? Are all freshmen who are invited to participate in honors classes and indicate they want to do so guaranteed honors housing (assuming that they pmeet all the of deadlines and so forth)?
Honors Housing for freshman is a LLC so when you apply for housing there is a little extra work that involves writing an essay on why you want to house in the particular dorm at least that is what my daughter had to do 2 years ago.
@pickledginger, The Honors Living Learning Community requires an application. Any student who would like to participate is free to apply: http://www.honorscollege.pitt.edu/housing/first-year-honors-housing

Are their still fraternies on the hill by Sutherland Hall? If so, how many?
@madismom , did your daughter enjoy living in Sutherland with the Honors LLC? What was her experience like?
Sutherland was her second choice. She wound up with her first choice Forbes Hall the Engineering LLC and loved it and it was helpful that everyone was a freshmen engineer. They all took their studies seriously but were able to enjoy their free time since they were all on the same schedule as far as tests and such. I would bet it would be the same in Sutherland as far as taking their studies seriously and enjoying their free time.
FYI - my oldest son applied last year on Wednesday, August 24th, after visiting Pitt for the first time on August 15th. He received his acceptance email/video on Thursday, September 29th. [He only applied to Pitt, Vandy, & Elon - Pitt was his first choice after he visited, he knew! Rejected from Vandy (no surprise) and accepted at Elon.] He just moved in this week - loves it!
My youngest son applied on August 10th - a few weeks ago. I have read Pitt admissions will start looking at apps around September 10th - Pitt is his first choice, too.
My (Pitt accepted) older son’s main stats were
ACT 27
SAT Subject Test (US History) 720 - his intended majors are sociocultural anthropology & economics.
Weighted GPA 3.899 (which was pretty steady at that number throughout his HS career)
Varsity Track, Model UN, founded volunteer club at HS, many hours of community service, Poly Sci Club
AP classes in US HIST (10th gr - EXAM 4), EURO (11th - EXAM 5), WORLD (12th - EXAM 5), & PSYCH (12th - EXAM 3)
He chose to answer Pitt app essay questions.
I do believe that demonstrating that you’re a serious student by the courses you are taking during senior year in HS matters to some degree - at any university, but esp. at Pitt b/c of their rolling admissions approach.
My son thought it was a relief knowing so early…it alleviated his intentions to apply other places.
I hope this helps guide everyone’s waiting. We are at it again, too - the waiting and hoping. Pitt is worth it - in every way imaginable in our experience so far. They are meticulous and professional in all that they do, from app to move in. And I think the price point is way better than all the privates out there. Pitt is also, in many ways, a better school than so many privates.
Best to all…
@hailtopitt1787 I’m almost finished up my application as a prospective student for the class of 2022 :)! I finished my SRAR, I’m 99% sure that I completed it correctly and my guidance counselor helped me as much as possible. Could I still submit my official high school transcript- I don’t want to make it look that I’m hiding anything or withholding important information?
@Benji3025, If you filled out the SRAR and it matches your transcript, there is no need to send the transcript as well. If you are admitted and enroll at Pitt, you will be asked to provide your final high school transcript before you start your fall freshman classes. For now, sounds like you are good to go! Hope that helps clarify. Best of luck!

My son applied on the 24th. He got his login credentials over the weekend. When he logged into the portal and checked the status, under outstanding items it says High School Transcript/GED. But you have mentioned above that just SRAR is sufficient for application. Should he request his school to send the transcripts now ?
@Eagle70, If we have the SRAR, please don’t send a transcript. You should be good to go! Our processors should clear out that pending transcript item in a few business days. If it’s still there later this week, feel free to give us a call and follow up: 412-624-7488.

Michele
Does anyone know how long it takes for SAT scores to be uploaded to the application portal? My D’s scores were sent 8 days ago, and they still aren’t posted on the portal. Just curious.
@Winky1, I would give it a few more business days, our processors receive a lot of scores this time of year. If it is still not up to date by this time next week, feel free to give us a call: 412-624-7488

Thank you very much @hailtopitt1787 .
@hailtopitt1787 I choose Pitt to be one of the 4 schools I sent my SAT scores to for free when I took the SATs a few months ago. How can I make sure they were sent to Pitt? Will it say on my portal? (I’m going to submit my app tonight)
@jenn214, If we have your scores, it will say “Application Complete” in the portal. You can always give our office a call to check, too! 412-624-7488.

@hailtopitt1787 Any information on when applications will be reviewed and students informed will be much appreciated.
@Eagle70, Those who applied in early August should hear back by late September. Once we catch up with the initial large influx of applications, we will typically be in touch with applicants within three weeks.
Best of luck!

Thanks
I submitted my application earlier this week and received a confirmation email- when should I get another email regarding my portal login information? Thanks.
