@hailtopitt1787 I was asked to submit mid year grades for more information about myself. If I had a councilor send in a letter of rec from a teacher in December, will that be reviewed at all in making my final decision?
The Admissions Committee typically prefers to read your Short Answers to get to know you better, but if the recommendation letter is needed to provide context on a special circumstance then they will definitely take it into consideration. I hope this helps, good luck!
@hailtopitt1787, are students supposed to update their SRARs with mid-year grades? My D filled it out when she applied, but our school automatically sends mid-year reports to schools. Now that she’s been accepted, is it okay to let the school send them, or do you still prefer the SRAR? Thanks.
@momofthree321, it takes 4-6 weeks to receive a decision from the day his application was marked ‘complete’. Updating his SRAR should not change this timeline.
@MdgmMom, students are only required to send mid-year grades if they are requested from our Admissions Committee. Otherwise, the committee will use the SRAR as the primary academic record and since your daughter has already been admitted it is not necessary to send those mid-year grades unless she is asked to.
hi, does anyone know if you are not admitted to your first choice major, will you be denied admission totally or can you be considered for other majors / schools?
No, you do not have to attend an Admitted Student Day. Sometimes students aren’t able to make Honors Day so they have the option of attending either or. Congrats on your admittance!
Scholarship awards usually come in a letter sometime after acceptance to the university. The financial award will have the merit award listed as well as other lines regarding grants, loans, work study etc. if applicable.
@hailtopitt1787 Was accepted to PITT on 10/29 got an email today (no letter) that i was given a Panther Pride Award of 7K a year. That will really come in handy. Gets the cost down to reasonable. So excited! They had a link to the award accept/decline page… is this my merit award? It seems like it, they just never called it that. And the email wasnt as flowery as other schools… Thanks!
i got in 11/8, and haven’t heard about any scholarships. i know they say you can hear up to march 1st but its starting to get me really anxious because I just received my financial aid package and got no need-based or merit aid I only got loans… is there any way to negotiate merit aid? I have many offers from similar schools for 10k merit aid because I’m oos, and since pitt is my #1, I really really want to go there and it would be amazing if pitt could match these other schools is possible?
