University of Pittsburgh Class of 2023 Discussion Thread

Also @carachel2 do you have any recommendations on getting to campus from Pittsburgh airport? We are arriving on Mar 25 at 8AM at the airport and we plan to visit the campus right after arriving.
Uber? Bus? Taxi?
We will spend one night very close to campus and will fly home on Mar 26 in the evening.

@rockmom21 one way to get the true student experience at the airport is to ask for directions to take the 28X. The airport employees will help you find your way. I believe it will be around $3.00 per person to get to campus. All Pitt students get “free” (not free really since we pay tuition but you know what I mean!) bus pass access and the “28X Airport Flyer” is included in the deal. Catch it at the airport and it will take you to campus. Our daughter uses it all the time and it’s great.

Where are you staying near campus?

@Tinag1223 awesome! She’s got some great choices. I’ve never been to the other schools you listed but I’ve heard good things. My daughter started out thinking she wanted Bioengineering but the nice thing about Pitt is she was exposed to all of the different types of engineering and she gradually realized she wanted Civil Engineering. She starts a co-op job this summer and is very excited.

The buttons changed around 4pm on Friday for me!

@studentpa ^^

Congrats @EmilyisCool !!

Can I ask about the “buttons changing”? I have heard this from others but am not sure what to look for. Are you looking at the psmobile site or the regular one, and which screen is it where the buttons appear or change.

Thanks in advance, and congrats once more!

@duquesnewhistle It’s on the pitt mobile app, yes. The section on the left side where it says Accept/decline admissions is where the change happens. Instead of the page saying “no pending applications”, it will ask if you want to accept or decline your offer, list your application number and indicate the school you applied to (Dietrich for me). Thanks!! When did you submit your application?

Awesome, thank you! Submitted in Sept but got waitlist decision for Comp Sci a few weeks ago, so asked to be reconsidered for Dietrich. Have the stats for Dietrich, I think, but it’s late in the process so I’m very nervous. Thanks again - hoping to see those buttons soon!!

@duquesnewhistle same thing for me! submitted for Business in October, asked for mid-year grades, wait listed. I asked to be switched to Dietrich on Monday 3/4 and buttons changed on Friday 3/8! Waiting for an official email/letter now…

Just got my acceptance email video!

im really confused, what’s the button changing thing??

never mind, mine hasn’t changed yet :confused: i applied 2/4

Congrats @EmilyisCool !! That is awesome. Making me concerned though as I my request to apply to Dietrich went in a week before yours. I am really puzzled. 1500 SATs, 3.85 GPA (weighted)…only one C… Not enough APs or extracurriculars? Is Pitt extra-competitive this year? Hoping to hear good news soon!

@duquesnewhistle continue to email them and reaffirm your interest. I emailed the admissions team probably 2 or 3 times a week!! They’re very nice. My SAT was only a 1250, but I had a 4.3 GPA and lots of extracurricular and work experience. Waiting is the hardest, but your stats are really solid

@EmilyisCool - thanks for the tips! What email address did you use to contact them, just a general one?

@duquesnewhistle Look up who your regional advisor is! Should be on their admissions website

@duquesnewhistle https://oafa.pitt.edu/esm_directory.php :slight_smile:

i still haven’t gotten anything back yet- applied 2/4 and sent mid year 2/13

@hailtopitt1787 How do I confirm my residency status before accepting my admissions offer?

@hailtopitt1787, If I would like to speak to a financial aid counselor regarding my daughters financial aid package and our family contribution according to the FAFSA etc, should I first speak to my area’s designated representative? Or should I contact the financial aid office directly? Thank you !

Hi @asr712,

Please call our financial aid office directly and ask to speak to a counselor. 412-624-7488, select option 2.
