Hi…Does Pitt give any additional scholarship for National merit finalists? Also they awarded me 15K…got better merit aids with other colleges, but want to go to Pitt. Is there a way to request for more merit aid?
@bamd Pitt does not award National Merit finalist scholarships. They used to have a cost analysis procedure where you could appeal your merit award but that was discontinued last year.
Is there anyone from California considering Pitt?

I have answered this question on here previously but the University of Pittsburgh does not automatically award scholarship dollars to students who are selected as National Merit Finalists. Pitt does, however, offer three National Merit Scholarship Corporation College Sponsored Awards in the amount of $1,000 each. These awards are given once the NMSC has offered all of its scholarships (after May 1st). To be considered, students must notify the NMSC that Pitt is their number one choice school by April 1 which has already passed.

@calmomofone Yes, my daughter is going to Pitt. We are from San Diego. She was deciding between UCLA engineering and Pitt, and she made the decision to commit this morning.
My daughter has committed to Pitt! It came down to Pitt, Michigan State & Rutgers. After her campus visit and the COB presentation, it was clear Pitt was the best fit. We live in Michigan. 
There is a great Facebook group for new Pitt parents…PITT PARENTS-CLASS OF 2023-unofficial. It’s so informative! And it’s wonderful meeting other parents!
Did your daughter commit to Pitt? We are from Orange County, California, and my daughter committed to Pitt. I wasn’t sure there would be any others nearby. What high school does your daughter go to?

Housing assignments for freshmen go out in the summer, I think July?

Our daughter committed to Pitt! Really excited about it! We are from Orange Co CA as well, she will attend the first Panther Connect this summer and has made marching band.
She attended Mater Dei Santa Ana. She is hoping to live in Forbes Engineering LLC.

I think most of you can help me with this question. DS applied for 2024 just now and didn’t receive any confirmation email. He proved himself to be a self starter that didn’t want me to take a look. Now he is having a minor freak out session, as somewhere in the application, it mentioned that his academic records are not complete. He thought maybe that is why he is not getting any confirmation email? He requested his transcript through Naviance.

@SincererLove please don’t freak out. It takes our office 2-3 business days to receive application data. Once we receive that data, we will send a confirmation email and also a link to complete his Self-Reported Academic Record (SRAR).
