University of Pittsburgh Class of 2025 Official Discussion Thread

lol! Nope, nothing yet! But Im not convinced they have even looked at It yet because I learned yesterday I needed pre-calculus to be considered for the business school!!! ahh!(I took statistics). I contacted my admissions person right away and they switched my consideration for Dietrich Arts and Sciences instead. They didn’t seem to think that was an issue and I would think if they already looked at my application and rejected it they wouldn’t have bothered to switch me to the Arts and Sciences?? So Im thinking it still has yet to be reviewed?? so in short, still waiting! Good luck!!!

My application was completed on October 16th but I had to fix something on my application that I messed up on Nov 1. My buttons just changed yesterday, Dec 9th. So no matter what date you look at (Oct 16th or Nov 1), it took them a while. I was really nervous and also started to lose hope, but it all worked out!

My son’s merit award ($5k per year) came in the mail today. It has been 2 months since he was accepted, so this made my day

He is instate & did not have any scores, for those in a similar situation.
Accepted date: 10/13 (Swanson + grad school guarantee). Merit received 12/12.

Today I got a letter postmarked 12/8 saying that I was eligible to apply to the School of Medicine’s Guaranteed Admissions Program and I should receive an email soon providing credentials to complete the GAP application. From information from the 11/11 email Regarding Info of Pitt Medicine Guarantee, I assume this means I was one of the nominated students to apply (400 of 2000 students received this in the class of '24). I believe if you receive this and complete the application, those selected to move on will hear back in February about scheduling an interview (39 students received this in the class of '24). After that I believe 10-15 of the interviewed students are admitted to GAP.

@2019gradsmom congrats! My D (instate) was accepted a couple months ago too…
She has high stats/gpa but no word on merit yet… I wonder how they determine who gets merit aid.

The scary thing is last year you needed a 33 (so says their website) but they are awarding without scores…congrats by the way. And it calls snail mail and maybe months later. Maybe more people have hope  I’d love to put Pitt on our radar. We applied to twenty - didn’t get to PItt yet but it checks all the boxes. The reason we did so many is - with Covid and potentially not being on campus next Fall, parents may pull kids or go to a CC rather than take class on Zoom…and the schools may need to fill seats. It’s looking good with the vaccine…much preferred…but was just covering the bases. We are in with a solid but not 33 score - and I wish all well. Exciting times…for the parents, not so much the kids.

Congrats !!!

We haven’t seen that letter yet and it’s looking bleak since 12/15 is approaching.

Thanks. I had assumed it took a while because he didn’t have any scores to send and is in-state, but his gpa seems in the range for merit, and he’s got good extra curriculars, so I was hopeful. He did recently sign up for the admitted students day as well as an online info session to help show interest. I’m not sure if that helped or not.
Your daughter’s stats look excellent, so I would assume you’ll hear soon, probably with more merit. Good luck!

I think my son’s official application date was 11/4 and we haven’t heard anything yet!

Does anyone think it’s an issue if you didn’t fill out the SRAR form? On our email, it said you could also send a transcript. Even though we thought the school had already sent the transcript with the application, my son sent it again via email. The application has said complete for awhile.

Thanks for the response! Still waiting here. As for your question about SRAR: My son didn’t do it initially, but sent an inquiry to his school college counselor about whether he should, since they send the transcript. She took a week to respond, but I gave up on her after about 3 days and helped him fill it out. Figured it couldn’t hurt. She eventuall replied saying basically that–not required but can’t hurt. Good luck!

I got an email saying congratulations with a video but never received a letter and nothing is on my portal except for the buttons saying accept/decline. When can I expect my portal to update/get a letter in the mail? I’m super excited but it doesn’t really feel official yet!

The accept/decline buttons in the portal are how you commit to Pitt, so that is very official. The acceptance letter will arrive shortly. Mail is especially slow right now.

Just got my buttons today! I applied around 11/18
