University of Pittsburgh Class of 2028 Official Discussion Thread

Applied October 15 (10/15)
Application Under Review Email 10/23
HAVE NOT HEARD BACK. HAS BEEN 47 DAYS.
SCHOOL OF COMPUTING & INFORMATION: I HAVE THE LONGEST WAITTTTT

My daughter got 2 to dos on documents.
They are asking her to submit personal statement and mid year grades…
Is that typical?

It is not uncommon to ask for mid-term grades. It would suggest they don’t have enough information to grant an acceptance. I know people who, in previous years, had to submit these items - the outcomes varied.

Pitt does ask case by case. Back in 2020 they did ask for my DS he finally got accepted in Jan once submitted

Personal statement is typically required for Test optional students

My DD got admission in a month Test optional nothing asked

Is personal statement same as common app essay ?

if she submits SAT on SRAR, will they waive statement ?

Looks she forgot to add her common app essay in the application!
If she adds it now, will she be okay?

She can certainly add it now and then email admissions. Who know if it will speed up the decision.

Did you check your Pitt document center? They sent acceptance email to my D24 two months after seeing acceptance letter in document center…

You can send the MP1 and let them know mid year grades available in Feb ?

In my case they asked for MP1 only

Thank you. yes

If she applied test optional, she can’t switch now. Some schools allow an applicant to switch, but Pitt does not.

On this page, they state that, “Once a student’s application is under review, their test optional status cannot be changed.”

Do y’all know if Pitt sends a letter in the mail for admitted students? I was accepted the first week of October and haven’t received anything in the mail.

Yes, they send a large envolpe with stickers too.
If you or your child ends up at Pitt, you would rephrase that to “Do yinz know…”

S24 was accepted in August - School of Computing and Information. Never got anything by postal email. Maybe the stickers and physical mail is sent out only by some schools at Pitt.
