University of Pittsburgh GAP vs. Boston University SMED

Hi

I am a senior in high school that is interested in the medical field. Because of this, I have applied to different BS/MD routes. I have been accepted into the Boston University Seven Year Liberal Arts/Medical Education(SMED) program and have recently went to the University of Pittsburgh Guaranteed Admission program interview, which went well.

On the chance that I am accepted into the GA program, I will need to choose between both of these highly selective programs. BU is giving me some scholarship for being a National Merit Finalist but UPitt is covering most of my undergraduate tuition.

I would love to hear the opinions of anyone who has experience in either of these programs or institutions. I would also love to hear about the undergraduate, medical schools(BUSM and UPMC, respectively), community, environment, organizations, city, experience, etc.(in essence any info you can offer that can help me make an informed decision).

Both are great choices. I do not follow BS/MD by the school, but there is a forum here in the “pre-med and med school” section deals with these two schools.
In general, you should be concerned:

  1. What criteria is needed to be admitted into their med school? GPA and Mcat.
  2. Is interview necessary.

I have heard that Boston U has serious weed out classes, don’t know whether Pitts has that. Either way, if the school admits you, they think you should be able to sail through.
